Will this be the latest Eastenders has ever been on to on bbc 1 across the UK if they go with 2125-2225. I think it has aired later on bbc scotland in the past but not uk wide.

Ideally they would only run for two blocks of, ooh let's say 13 weeks. But since that ain't happening, surely the best slot is 9pm after Holby? You've then got some nice crossover storyline potential.
Like all soaps they are habit viewing, and cutting them down, destroys the habit and will increase costs as the custom sets in Cardiff and Elstree will be used less. The BBC under strain on costs and loosing Waterloo road will find it hard to replace them, they do an OK job. Back to back would be a tabloid field day and people would moan about it. Whilst there would be some logic. Holby actually hands for million viewers to one of the top BBC1 drama slots on Tuesdays at 9 pm. |

You could get the figures from the TV Player Report and add them up for us.
Yes the BBC measure requests as opposed to full views but I still don't believe only 200k are watching episodes of the youngest skewing of the big three online. |

I thought those Corrie tweets were a bit tragic but then you read Lygo and you wonder if he's Rodney or Trigger. That run of Harry Potter films is not the worst idea and at least it is a bit different from the usual dull schedule. Personally I would rather it have been a run of classic Bond films but Potter will do a little better. |

Is Wednesday 28th the new Sunday?
I wonder if BBC1 and ITV will try to align junctions on Christmas Day (although of course BBC1 usually runs past them anyway), as otherwise not a lot of channel hoping will be able to take place. |

One thing I wonder about the 28th on ITV - why not air Coronation Street at 7.30pm and start Harry Potter at 8pm? The news would be pushed to 10.40pm but that's no later than on Friday and only ten minutes later than Thursday. It would also allow them to work to BBC One's junctions and not have a three night midweek gap between Coronation Street's.

As mentioned, it looks like some Corrie's have been moved forward into the mor lucrative pre Christmas time leaving a shortage at Christmas. The complete opposite to what the BBC do with EastEnders

Because it's a family film and parents would quite like to get the little bleeders in bed?
But the night after the film is on until 10.30pm; adding a Coronation Street would just take the news on Wednesday to 10.40pm.

Has that come on then since I last looked? Because when I last looked they had EE getting something like 200k views which is way at odds with the data released by BBC Media Centre. I remember speaking to Cylon about it.
Yes the BBC measure requests as opposed to full views but I still don't believe only 200k are watching episodes of the youngest skewing of the big three online. Like the main BARB figures they correlate slot averages from all part viewings. The figures are solely for views on devices and don't include iPlayer watched on the TV, which are included in the main BARB figures. As you say, the BBC Media report counts requests, but doesn't strip out those watched on a TV set, so they can't be compared. |

Well I imagine that won't go down too well in some corners - though in ratings terms it won't be too bad.
I feel like it's got the fingerprints of Kevin Lygo all over it. From his interview at Edinburgh and a couple of the big decisions he's taken, he strikes me as rather more ruthless than previous ITV management. On non-priority days like those leading up to New Year, he's not about to spend more than he has to on inevitably lowly rated fare, just to keep up some pretence. More likely likely to bite the bullet, and turn out this line up to get solid audience share for minimum outlay. Going to ruffle some feathers for sure, but it does at least seem like a concerted plan for the channel and I think might do some good to the numbers - which is what he's all about. Well it's a good way of filling over 11 hours of primetime between Christmas & New Year at what may appear to be lower risk. When you compare it to some of the original drama's put out last year it may be a safer bet ?
