What is the daytime schedule like for ITV on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day? Christmas Day looks strong.

Not remotely what you expect from BBC Two in that slot - normally reserved for more specialist programming (i.e. Robert Rauschenberg - Pop Art Pioneer the previous week) - and a very late finish for a family film.

I suspect had it been on BBC Two or Channel 4, it probably wouldn't have fared much better but kudos for them to do something a little different.
5 are showing The Secret life of Puppies in that slot next week which should do well, I wonder where Christmas at the Trafford Centre will go? I'm guessing Thursdays since it's only 2 episodes.

Has the scheduler been on the sherry? What the hell is THAT supposed to be???
The ITV soaps are doing well. Emmerdale is excellent at the moment while Corrie is improving is still dull. EastEnders needs to up its game I'd it's going to change things around in the new year. I can't say I'm not enjoying it as its very character led but we seriously need better storylines now. I think 2017 will be a bigger and better year for the show.

On that note, I'm not a big fan of EastEnders at 9:30pm, at one time the 9pm slot on Christmas Day would be the flagship event, The Royle Family, Only Fools and Horses, various other comedy remakes, with the biggest rating of the day, now it's just the Christmas episode of EastEnders. The BBC can just use the excuse that viewers can opt for News on the BBC at anytime during the day by tuning into the News Channel. Besides, they are only showing the News 20 minutes earlier than they did in 2013 when both BBC1 and ITV aired a bulletin at 3.10pm.
It's because ITV air two hours of soaps that EastEnders airs late.

Further to the above confirmation that C5 do indeed hold some Big Bash rights; I see that BT Sport are showing the very same fixture on Boxing Day.
Could this be part of a wider rights sharing deal with BT? Potentially huge news if so, although I'm not seeing any reports as yet on how exactly this has come about.

Yes, I'm sure Christmas/NY Day when it falls on a day either or both aren't usually on is normally the only time ITV run their soaps on unusual days over Xmas. Extra episodes/eps on unusual days over Christmas is more of an EastEnders thing.

Last year Midwife started 15 minutes before Corrie, and Eastenders was scheduled to start as Corrie finished and align with ITV's Downton. This year there is a 30 minute gap between Eastenders & Corrie.

I assume they're going to be using the same footage but branding it differently or is a simulcast?
Cricket has been a staple of the 5 schedule for the last decade so it's good to see them broadcast live cricket. I remember people were dismissive when they got the highlights but it's been a success for them.
