This is all getting a bit tedious. The rating thread is not really the right place to be arguing about news content is it ?
Either way, The Olympics is once every four years, if its dominanting BBC News then so be it. I'm sure if there was a major story then it would cover it first.
Exactly! I don't care one iota about news content. If I wanted to see news I would watch the BBC News Channel.

Is there not a specific threat to drone on and on about the news anyway? It has nothing to do with ratings and has really derailed the thread today.

The Olympics are only on once in every four years for just over two weeks. That is it. It'll be over in a few days time and we'll be back to doom and gloom in the news, just how it should be *rolls eyes*.

Just in case people missed it, ratings from Broadcast (just a few)

BBC1:
Olympics 2016- 4.2m (21.3%)

BBC2:
The Hairy Bikers’ Bakeation- 1.0m (5.4%)
Skies Above Britain- 1.6m (7.7%)

ITV:
Long Lost Family- 3.3m (16.5%)

CH4:
Britain’s Benefit Tenants- 1.1m (5.5%)
Man Down- 520,000 (3.0%)

CH5:
Celebrity Big Brother- 1.6m (8.0%)
Thanks Salv.

Was Man Down losing viewers even before the Olympics?

BBC2 having some factual success.

Staunch, long-standing defenders of the BBC staunchly defend the corporation yet again in the face of their dereliction of duty when it comes to broadcasting real news in order of importance.
Your point lost any relevance when you dismissively spoke about "games" (and linking their importance to children, in italics). That was an insult to hard-working competitors (let alone the millions of viewers who watch, in many of cases far outnumbering viewers for non-Olympic programming), and demonstrated the ridiculous and somewhat tedious nature of your "argument".

As someone else has commented, this is supposed to be the Ratings thread, so I shall not comment any further.

I'm not too sure, I had a feeling Man Down has been in the 500k-700k range all series so far.

1.6m climb for the Olympics on BBC1 from the day before as I expected. Wednesday night wasn't exactly thrilling and I'm not surprised it was at 4.2m, but as I said, I expected it to rise last night and it did.

Is there any BBC1 ratings from 3 pm to 5 pm when the triathlon was on?

Great for CBB there and will be 1.8m+, highest since launch I'd assume, not surprised after the promo video getting 2m online.

Massive rating for CBB, about the only programme holding up well vs the Olympics.

Looks like it beat ITV by a comfortable margin too.

ITV have confirmed there's going to be a 90 minute Christmas special of Grantchester this year, ahead of the new series in early 2017.

Don't think it'd do much on Christmas Day itself, but could do quite nicely for them elsewhere over the holiday.

Is it just me or does EastEnders seem to be doing well this month? I don't know the figures from previous years but on face value it seems to be doing good.

I think being sandwiched in the middle of the Olympics coverage is boosting it a bit. It has been doing better recently.

Really good for EE. Same rating as yesterday.

Brilliant for CBB. Tonight's eviction should do well.

Fantastic for CBB. I think tonight will be back down to 1.6-1.7m, but seriously, what other TV channel can say they are doing those ratings against the Olympics? Especially a channel like C5. Even ITV have been struggling. Long Lost Family did well though on Wednesday.
