This is true. When The Voice started those that watched said they liked it as it wasn't cruel like The X Factor was then. Forced Britain's Got Talent to change too and become nicer.

Like anybody cares. They liked seeing something positive coming from the coaches. Once the chairs stopped spinning that's when the ratings dropped.

Nice as in nice.

But ITV said they weren't going to change too much initially when they bought it. Sounds like they're giving it an X Factor touch in places.

“I don't doubt what you are saying, but The Voice launched well due to all different elements that went in its favour. First of all its on the BBC, and for a typically younger skewing show it had a very large older following.”
The Voice launched well primarily because it was new and something different to X Factor in the early stages. This was opposite BGT which also had a sizeable older audience alongside the younger audience

“I don't think it'll cause too much audience decline. To start with it won't be nearly as big as it was on BBC1. It'll be at least 1m down.”
It should do better than the last BBC series. It won't be as big as it was when it started in 2012. How will Let It Shine do opposite? An unknown quantity in the mix.
