That's the point I made before. ITV should be using already hit shows against SCD. Not launching new stuff which nobody bothers with because its not enough to tempt themaway from SCD. Nothing ITV has launched against SCD has been a hit. None of the above deserve a recommission. If you think they do, then you are suggesting ITV should just be making do with underperforming shows. Jonathon Ross seems to have recovered some-what, but only recently. The new shows obviously need a different slot and arguably a different host. Some of them may need tweaks to the format too. PTTW isn't new and was not against SCD so clearly needs a very different slot, weekday at 10pm makes sense to me. OTR has probably run its course though I would be tempted to try that at 10pm too if you've established that slot as something of a comedy slot. That Saturday line-up in January is pretty weak from the BBC. So... 5:30 New Gameshow or no-star Family Fortunes/Catchphrase (preferably new format) 6:15 Ninja 7:15 Voice 8:30 Dance³ 9:45 Keyhole I don't know how long the shows are so I'm guessing a bit. Naturally Dance³ can't go up against SCD so, to quote a different TV show, the search continues. Oh and YBF should never be on after 6pm! |

Pretty basic stuff, what you'd expect.
Maybe they will even allow signature art like other forums. |

About time the forum got updated. Search is temperamental, sometimes you get posts from the week or several years ago when you look for a poster's recent posts. Some banned people should definitely return. Hassaan should be allowed back in. Some posters were banned over fairly trivial things compared to others breaking serious forum rules.

At least the news about the forum changes scotches the concerns about the future of this side of DS.
The changes all look fair enough and sensible and cannot see them doing any harm and having search back is a real at last moment. |

Why should Strictly be forced to have a same sex couple? It's other people bringing it up and getting themselves angry about it. Banning gay people from being on Strictly at all would be something to be complained about.
I have gay friends and they didn't have a problem with Will Young or Judge Rinder being paired with women. It really would not be appropriate on a family show. The viewing public are not ready for it. |

Exactly. The BBC should quite rightly refuse to bow to any sort of pressure.
It really would not be appropriate on a family show. The viewing public are not ready for it. |

Well I've just watched the BBC Music Awards. Only one act turned up to collect their award.
The whole thing feels completely pointless. Might as well just call it Top of the Pos (with a few awards thrown in) |

They need to stop trying to make the BBC Music Awards happen. It's just embarrassing. I mean there were some nice performances in there but the overall show feels lame. Even Fearne tried her best but seemed embarrassed to be there.

Thanks Fudd
Nice to see ITV start off the New Year with a YBF rpt. That's what I like to see. On Tuesday 3rd, ITV look a bit stronger on the Tuesday and should do relatively well, IF they promote POG dogs. Otherwise it'll be under 3m. The 9pm slot looks like under 2m to me. The Halycon should provide SW with a bit more como, though whether it can hold its own, I have no idea. Thursday is interesting. The 8pm show will either be 2-3m or 4m+. I'm pretty sure health series do well in the Nwe Year after Christmas. At 9pm is Unforgotten against DIP. The trailer for Unforgotten isn't very grabbing though. It doesn't have any pull for me. Here it is below. See what you think:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQV81dqu57Y It just doesn't have that: 'I must watch that' feel to it. Its going to fascinating to see what ITV do on the weekends. I hope they are not as predictable as I think they'll be. I do think the Halcyon will be a strong new hit though, despite facing Silent Witness. The trailer for it is very good. |

I know - those awards have a box ticking vibe about them, as if they're being used as evidence of BBC meeting some commitment for youth programming..

EastEnders and Brookside were doing far more 30 yeas ago and EastEnders was being seen by 18m people.
And again, the dancers don't have to be gay. I don't think that's a ratings winner

Interesting ratings from Finland (they measure total reach as well as overnights) but as I understand it X Factor UK Final shoots into their top 5 most watched of the year chart with nearly 1.4m overnight before 7 day catch up, over 1/4 of their population watched.
Maybe this is why Simon wants more international acts, it opens up other markets to the format and to him- I'll be very surprised if Saara isn't a judge on X Factor Finland at some point soon |

Seeing two blokes doing the Argentine Tango, gay or not, is not appealing to me.
I don't think that's a ratings winner ![]() Now seeing two hot women gyrate together, that I can see them watching! As a xmas special it'd probably do well, maybe better than the actual Xmas special. And of course the BBC isn't supposedly that fussed about ratings.... Hmm... |

The UK acts would probably lose so really it's be just like Eurovision!

It'd appeal to plenty of women and gay men. I suspect straight men make up less than 35% of the audience. Heck I don't have any friends who admit to willingly watching SCD.

and they are also not interested in seeing the audience decline on their biggest show hence it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Maybe one year but not yet. It also can be good for ratings, see Brookside.
