It really would not be appropriate on a family show. The viewing public are not ready for it.
What absolute nonsense...and on both counts.

It'd appeal to plenty of women and gay men. I suspect straight men make up less than 35% of the audience. Heck I don't have any friends who admit to willingly watching SCD.

Now seeing two hot women gyrate together, that I can see them watching! As a xmas special it'd probably do well, maybe better than the actual Xmas special. And of course the BBC isn't supposedly that fussed about ratings.... Hmm...
Which part of this is hard to understand? Strictly is a traditional ballroom dance competition. Same sex couples are simply not appropriate for the contest. In pro dances and in group dances it already happens quite naturally so any suggestion that is verboten is plainly nonsense. DWTS in the States has a lot more interaction between couples and has featured extended sections of contestants dancing in same sex pairs but there has been no suggestion that it should lead to breaking the traditional M/F partnerships. That is a peculiar obsession of those who are desperately aware that they are running out of ammunition in their crusade to bring down BBC.

Anyone know if the NYE/ NYD schedules have been confirmed yet, or is that this week?
Yes, they were confirmed last Thursday.

Are you ready for a GeorgeS return? A proper return, this time.

I wonder if they'd consider international auditions. The problem is the overseas people can't vote and if they could they'd obviously back their own.

You could try an international XF where everyone could vote. The UK acts would probably lose so really it's be just like Eurovision!
Maybe they could call it World Idol.

Even as a gay person I don't see how same-sex couples would work on Strictly. There are very clear gender roles in many of the dances. It's a lot easier for a man to lift a woman than another man, for example.

It's a nice idea in principle, but the judging and whole competition element of the show would turn into a right mess very quickly.

I don't care if it is normal to the tradition. You know what, people with dance training competing with former politicians with no dance training is not exactly normal to pro competition.

I'll check this but I don't believe I'm trying to bring down the BBC either. I don't think I have the power but I appreciate the compliment.

Sounds like a plan. Can't see how it could fail.

Pretty basic stuff, what you'd expect.
Maybe they will even allow signature art like other forums.
In the thread in the General Discussion forum someone asked if they were going to allow avatars and the answer was "no", so I imagine the same will be true of signature art.

Would a same-sex couple somehow dance differently ? I'm genuinely puzzled

ITV tried it in 2003, and I don't think it worked out well.

Blinking get rid of it. It isn't the BRITS or the MTV: EMAs why this was started bemuses me. Nearly single figure shares. BBC Monday is ITV Tuesday.

The BBC Awards is so BBC. I mean that in the worst possible way. Felt like such a love in. Rarely do I turn off a show if wanting to watch but this I did.
