I'm so happy about Hassaan's return.

I wonder what the next big rating will be that we see. It may be a while, with no GBBO next year. I think The Voice will do okay but won't set the world alight - and I think Barlow's show will rate like the old Andrew Lloyd Webber shows - well, but not incredible.

I know people like to be home on Christmas Eve with the family but with it being a Saturday they could have scheduled the finale for Christmas Eve. I doubt ratings would go down, in fact I'd be amazed if they didn't go up.

The average BBC One viewer is only one year older than the average ITV main channel viewer.

The Strictly final, surely? And Sports Personality of the Year. Depending on how the last Sherlock special went down, that could be good for 8-9m. I can see Frozen & Bake Off doing really well too.

I can't remember what I predicted! Maybe last year was just a bad year.

It looks very old fashioned now, but the ratings are still decent.

Or try the Top of the Pops Awards again.

Sherlock will do really well. 8-9m for sure. I also think Bake Off on Xmas Day could hit 8-9m and surprise everyone. Frozen will likely smash it as it's such a major hit, again I think people will be surprised by how well it performs.

It also means we can return to the old routine of you posting ratings here and then I nick them and put them in the other place! 😂

Not if I get in there first. It'll be like a simulcast.

A pretty wild thought but... what are the chances of The Lion King beating Frozen? That's more likely to attract older viewers, compared to Frozen appealing to younger viewers. The Lion King is considered by many to be Disney's finest work. But it has been aired on terrestrial before, albeit on Channel 4 at teatime in the middle of summer.

I reckon

Frozen - 7.3m
The Lion King - 3.7m

Or something like that. Both will do well but Frozen will win!

It's David Walliams overkill at the moment.

I hope Charlotte Moore doesn't do a High Fearnley-Whittngstall on him and give him lots of shows that don't rate. Walliams and Friend should steer her well away.

All the same music acts are appearing on the shows recently, Sting was on Strictly on Sunday and is at the Variety tonight, Robbie Williams has been everywhere.

Once you've seen them on one thing, why bother again?

Ha! But I don't mind, in all honesty.

That looks about right. Although I can't help but put The Lion King a bit higher. It is a Sunday which should hopefully help Christmas Day viewing on the whole but it wouldn't surprise me if it takes another dip.

Abysmal for the BBC Music Awards, they should really call it a day. Obvious why as it wouldn't have appealed to the over 60s audience that makes up the rump of the BBC1 audience, the audience that usually is why BBC1 rates so well.

Meanwhile any younger viewers also wouldn't have tuned in, as despite the BBC's best efforts, it isn't the edgy Brit Awards, it's about as cool as watching a band in the local village hall whilst drinking pop. The artists obviously know this as most of the award winners didn't turn up.

Good rating for the Philip documentary

Have you got the data source for ITV? I can't find a good demographic breakdown. The BBC report is excellent.
50% of BBC1 and 2 viewers are over 60. The median age for the UK is 40.

Some tidbits...

Around 19m households have TV.
10m only have terrestrial.
9.5m have sky.
4m have Virgin
2.5m have YouView
1m have freesat
1m have other satellite.

Over 7m have SVoD
Nearly 6m have Netflix
1.5-2m have Amazon
1m have Now TV.

1m+ have no TV though I wonder if this will fall with the iPlayer changes.

Data from up to April 2016 so those Amazon numbers will probably have jumped a bit.

EastEnders 6.17m (28.3%)
Emmerdale 6.06m (30.9%) at 7pm on ITV and 110k (0.5%)”

So Corrie and Emmerdale up year on year, EastEnders down. Interesting considering that there is the perceived notion that Corrie is down a fair bit.

Corrie's officials are very strong at the moment - almost 9m in most recent.

I think the show has shown signs of real improvement, though there's work to do. Splitting Roy and Cathy up last night is a sign of the new producer undoing the mistakes made by the previous - these messes take some time to rectify.

It usually is to be fair, but Corrie seems to finally be on the up.

Frozen doesn't really have the broad appeal that the previous Disney films have had, which is why I think The Lion King will do slightly better than everybody is expecting. Although saying that, any household with anybody under 10 will be watching Frozen.
