I've just watched Norton's interview with Will.I.am and Norton's joke that 'other programmes are available' implied that the two shows will clash. 8pm seemed the obvious slot since they religiously kept XF there.

I imagine The Chase or some other quiz will precede Ninja. For such an expensive show, 18:30 on a Sunday [guessing] seems early.

It will be sad to see the end of the winning duo, and indeed having two newsreaders on-screen. But glad they aren't pairing Mary up with anyone else and giving the programme solely to her. Considering it's by far ITV News highest rated programme.

They have shown Sleeping Beauty before in 1994 and 1996. I still have the 1996 showing on a tape somewhere! Not sure about 101 Dalmatians. But i agree, one thing ITV aren't good at is promoting films they're showing.

Despicable Me 2 this year before the new series of Saturday Night Takeaway, would've provided a good lead-in. but they didn't even promote it at all and it ended up with 2.85m, when it could've gotten so much more.

I hope ITV run a "Disney at Christmas on ITV" trailer or something, telling us the time and day each film is on. I'm sure viewers would go wild if they knew about it.

But it'll be really interesting to see two of Disney's biggest films going up against each other. May the best Princess or Lion win

Yes, ITN's double headed bulletins were the original News at Ten from 1967 to 1992, plus the lunchtime news was double headed from 1991 to 1999, and then again from sometime in the mid-noughties to quite recently, and the teatime news from when it began in 1999. So they've always had a double headed bulletin. It was at its most fashionable in the mid-eighties and indeed for twelve months between 1985 and 1986, all three of the main BBC bulletins were double headed.

I mean, you look at it and go, oh, two presenters is more expensive than one and you only need one, so it's an obvious cut, but telly is a creative medium. You may as well start arguing you don't need a proper set because it wouldn't make any difference if they just did it on a desk from the office, and so on. If it's a better programme when it's double headed, it should be double headed.

I feel like I'm treading on eggshells here so have to be careful, but I remember it - much as I feel I could have dealt with it better, the heated arguments were too much, and remained so for a year after I 'went on holiday' and even reading the thread became a nightmare. But I'll leave it there. All I'll say is, it's not the kind of atmosphere I want for this thread.

Saw the last hour of RV last night and it seemed very singing heavy and edited down quite a bit. It really needed another Bee Gees song at the end to cap it off. I wonder how long the actual show was.

I've managed to get some demographic information for Monday, thanks to rzt over on Gallifrey Base. In the 16-34 demo, the BBC Music Awards only had 375k viewers, a skew of 17%. The BRIT Awards normally get a skew of around 30%.

More 16-34's watched the Prince Philip documentary (430k).

I think I have to admit that Emmerdale is firmly streets ahead of EastEnders now in the ratings.

The Royal Variety Performance would have been better off on Wednesday after Corrie.

EastEnders had competition from The Royal Variety Performance. It would have been higher but still behind Emmerdale in my opinion. Can't see extra people rushing to watch it at Christmas.

Eesh that's poor all around except for Emmerdale. I thought Tuesday was EE big day? Holby really is a show that ITV could beat up if it made proper effort.
RP did okay for a drama that was decapitated by IAC and as for the RV - well it got going after EE finished but it did seem a tad BBC Music Awards to me.

I forgot that Arsenal were on BT last night, that should have snagged 600k plus whatever sky sports got.

EastEnders was up against the Royal Variety.

The Royal Variety is starting to (though I enjoyed it) look a bit on the weak side, much like The Brits were in 2014 when James Corden hosted it. I thought David Walliams was a good host last night, but than Jack Whitehall. But I would ask Bradley Walsh to do it next year, he knows how to entertain an audience.

The Tuesday on ITV can't have helped.

What makes you think people over 35 aren't interested in pop music? There are 65 year olds out there who grew up with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and The Who, 75 year olds who grew up with rock and roll.

My brother, who's in his late 40s, chose to watch the Music Awards ahead of Corrie (big soap fan).

Radio 2 were involved in the MA as much as Radio 1 and extensively play two of the award winners, Coldplay and Adele. The reason Adele's records sell in such big numbers is because her music appeals to all ages.

If they were showing the Radio 1 Teen Awards or something R1 related then obviously it would skew better to its demographic. The BBC Awards in its branding, style and presentation does not wholly appeal to the younger demographic.
