Disappointed that BBC1 aren't meeting Endeavour at the junction. If Sherlock's not sitable for screening before the 9 o'clock watershed then cut it so it is. (With these things you only need to cut one or two unsavoury images to get a lighter certificate.) The original schedule of
7.00 Countryfile
8.00 Open All Hours
8.30 Sherlock
was much better.
I suppose BBC1's thinking is not to give DDD a head start on Countryfile, but they needn't worry. I've read the blurb for DDD and it's got flop written all over it. ITV are rubbish at these type of derivative programmes and there's only room for ONE dance programme on TV. They've been any number of dance shows on TV since Strictly started and they've all flopped. Apart from Let's Dance For Comic Relief which was a big pile of crap that got lucky thanks to Robert Webb. And, judging from the blurb, DDD is so similar to Let's Dance, the BBC should seriously consider suing for copyright.
If BBC1 wants to meet DDD at the junction and have Sherlock at 9 o'clock they should have gone with:
6.30 Antiques Roadshow
7.30 Open All Hours
8.00 Countryfile
9.00 Sherlock
They may be looking for Countryfile to give Roadshow a big lead-in and Roadshow to hold the audience passed the start of Endeavour. But Roadshow is a weak spot in BBC1's Sunday schedule as was so clearly demonstrated when Planet Earth took over the slot and doubled the audience.
edit: Not convinced Let It Shine is going to do anything either. Sounds rubbish. And we know how BBC1 make a hash of most of their light entertainment programmes. Would love to see The Voice bomb as well. I am totally mystified by how such a bad programme manages to rate so highly at least at the start. I can only put it down to a magnificent piece of cross-promotional hype by the BBC. The fact that the ratings plummet so far in the later stages of the programme prove how bad a format it is.
