They must have ballsed it up that they didn't go into a trailer for either that dire looking BBC Three sitcom, or that Salford class of 92 thing as that's what all the other Olympics shows seemed to go into.

I don't think I would want those Geordie (insert expletives here) on Christmas Day. TV for idiots they are.
I think X-Factor could win on Sunday, the BBC has a tired show against it "Antiques Roadshow" - can't it be axed and Fiona Bruce and co banned from TV for inflicting this crap on us? We're not all Tory-loving pensioners who have Margaret Thatcher shrines in our houses ffs. |

Was it a cock up or was it deliberate? To try and get people to tune into BBC1 next Sunday instead of Victoria on ITV?
Another period drama opposite the BBC's sweetheart Poldark (given they have give the green light for series 3) is surely going to irritate them? |

The Olympics coverage has been great hasn't it. The time zone pushing athletics into the night and the fact that I didn't go to any events in person means I've probably watched a more coverage and a wider range of sports this time than in 2012. People thought it would be a let down compared to London, but people have got behind it more than I expect the BBC ever thought, the medal haul helped somewhat.
Only negatives from a coverage point of view, being dodgy channel changes leaving gaps in live action and a slight inflexibility of scheduling of the fixed points such as the news, which the BBC obviously knew and sorted out in the second week. Other than that you can't fault the coverage really and they did right in clearing the decks on BBC1. A shame the next one is in a worse time zone meaning there will be no live coverage after about 4pm In the afternoon, and the fact that the BBC coverage might be compromised by the new rights deal. How this will work in practice nobody seems to quite know. There was a fair bit of gloom and doom on here before with suggestions stars were staying away which was totally incorrect. A handful of golfers who probably regret it now. Yes, a bit too much messing around. I think they tried to keep some happy but really you are better off just going full pelt and taking any moans on the chin. Not sure if it's been mentioned but this will be a big boost for SPOTY as happened in 2012' |

They might manage that better with an Are You Being Served trailer.

Will be difficult predicting what this closing ceremony will get. Not much obviously being so late on a Sunday. Ends at 4am ! I can see people watching until 1am and then switching off.

I've watched half of the Olympics I'd say but that was mostly in the last week. I didn't even watch the opening but going to see how long I last tonight... I'm not at work tomorrow so...

I wouldn't put it past them. I think they are very hopeful Poldark becomes the next DA, to dominate that slot.
Another period drama opposite the BBC's sweetheart Poldark (given they have give the green light for series 3) is surely going to irritate them? Might also boil down to how limp the X Factor goes too, which could drag down the whole night. |

The sitcom season trailer is awful. Possibly the tackiest trailer I've seen for a long time. In my opinion it isn't going to attract people to watch anything because they don't know what they're meant to watch!

Another period drama opposite the BBC's sweetheart Poldark (given they have give the green light for series 3) is surely going to irritate them? The trouble is, I can't see either getting the kind of ratings DA got - and that's before you get to the fact that they're going to be scheduled against one another. As far as ITV is concerned, Jenna Coleman will need to prove she has much greater range than she displayed in DW if she's going to convince; and Poldark's future may hang in the balance in any case, if the rumours about Aidan Turner being the next 007 are true … because his agent will sure as hell demand a mass fee hike for playing Ross if that happens. I rather suspect that both will under perform … |

According to the small paragraph I can see for Broadcast, the BBC Olympic coverage averaged 6.9m.
