Amazing Final for SCD it should clear 12m

Let It Shine does look pretty dull, but that won't stop it doing well on BBC1. It would have to be piss-poor with swearing left-right and centre to flop. Even Tumble got a respectable 17%-20% shares.

RE tonight: I think SCD and MM are deserving of their ratings tonight. Neither have much competition, so should do well. It would be good to see ITV take note and produce an event weekend during the BGT Final.”

I know what you mean but Dance³ isn't really like SCD. It's got elements of BGT, XF and other such shows in it. DoI coexisted with SCD and TVUK has done with XF, not to mention BGT.

It's also three weeks away and I know that doesn't sound like much, but these are a big three weeks and it will feel a lot longer.

Having said that, everyone on here seems to think it's going to flop and you lot have been tracking these sorts of things for far longer than me so y'all are probably right.

That might be a bridge too far.

What I mean is, viewers who watch SCD will have a dancing show they enjoy, so even if its different, they won't sit through one with adverts.

It'll be in a similar vein to Let's Dance. But here we'll see how Let's Dance might have done on ITV given both will be airing in the New Year.

Adverts play a huge role in the audience deciding not to watch a programme on a commercial channel. You only need to look on some of the threads on this forum, with a few stating they'll only watch BBC1 on Xmas Day because they don't have adverts.

If viewers had a choice between a dancing show of similar vien on ITV and BBC at the same time, they'll likely choose the ad free version (depending on quality).

Let It Shine really is a wildcard. Take That appealed mainly to females. Will anybody else be interested to watch?

At the press screening it went over well with those that saw it. 4/5m might be its top level.

The ad for it was awful.

I like the Lloyd-Webber ones but am not drawn to this.

Yes, naturally you want to avoid the ads and it does make sense that it'll put folk off. However, people are still watching commercial TV live, they watch IAC and others live so it should not be too damaging for a new ITV/C4/C5 show.

This is harder for me to assess because I don't watch any TV live, I don't understand why people do to be honest. But then I can't understand how people watch in SD or on a 'small' TV or survive without sky - it's what you consider normal.

I do find it funny how I consider 6:30 on a Saturday to be a great slot time but 6:30 on a Sunday to be too early. Do other people feel this or is it just me and my memories of 6:30 being a God slot and good programmes not starting until 7:15?
C4 and the Cosby Show was a Godsend on Sundays.

Predictions...

SCD 12m (peak 13.9m)
MM 7.2m
Pointless 6.1m

ITV 2m.

Where will EE find 2 million extra viewers from on Xmas Day? Isn't it on at 9.30pm too?

I think Ben was just reading from a newspaper article so its what the paper guesses it will be.

EastEnders will find the extra viewers I'm sure of it. Look at New Years Eve this year EE had 8.3m overnight when it had 6.9m on the 29th December.

But you could have said that when ITV had their Dancing On Ice/Wild at Heart winning combo, it looked like they would keep dominating but then BBC One put on Call the Midwife against it and it started changing the status quo.

I do think ITV can overcome competition from BBC One Sundays, or at least come a respectable second place - they just have to find the right programme, which I know sounds a bit obvious. However I also think Dancex3 won't do very well. For a start the title sounds bland and very generic. But I think the main issue will be that it will skew too young and won't have enough to attract older viewers. The only things that could save it is if it performs in a similar way to Take Me Out, where it does very average numbers but it attracts enough viewers in the young demo to save it.

Projected figures by certain people, I presume. Even though that might not be too far away from the actual figure, they've not been released.

I'm sure there are plenty of shows that go down well at press conferences but struggle to connect with viewers. Will this be one of them? Who knows.

I remember before the days of BARB papers would ring the Central Electricity Generating Board (or whatever it was called) and they could roughly calculate the audience for a programme based on electricity consumption.

It's managed it before but I doubt it will this year. I think Corrie will be the top soap on Xmas Day. It has the better slot and CTM is going to stall BBC One's momentum.

Michael McIntyre 7.04m 36.6%

Don't have the Striclty rating as the stupid Broadcast app only includes shows that started after 7pm.

The Hobbit 1.01m 5.1% excluding HD and +1

Excellent figure there for McIntyre. Hopefully it will receive a 6+ figure for Christmas Eve.

The BBC look to have a new LE show that actually is popular.

Great rating for Michael McIntyre. Interested to see how Strictly and the films on ITV did.

Bit disappointing. Was hoping he might get closer to 8m.

(How come this figure is released first? Has Strictly flopped?)

Blimey! I know it would have probably added on a fair bit on HD & +1 but that's still dreadful!
