Also BBC1 have an extra EastEnders on the Friday at 9pm (Not Going Out shifts to 9.30pm).”

Was the BRITs launch aired last year? Presumably it ended up after the news, I can't quite remember. I don't know what it'll do in that slot, as the BRITs Icon show featuring Robbie Williams didn't do very well a few weeks ago so maybe people are only interested in the main event.

They do have a few Celebrity Chase episodes to go out but would they want to put any new ones out at 5:30pm on a Sunday? It might be a repeat.

As for Alan Carr being poorly scheduled, where else do you suggest they put it? 10pm nightly was, for me, the best scheduling for it. It's not doing great but there might be reasons for that.

Birds of a Feather has got somewhat of a headstart though, compared to going directly head to head with EastEnders on Thursdays. I can see it getting around 4m, which wouldn't be too bad I suppose.”

Of course it does. It will be starting hald way through Michael Mcintyre.

Well hopefully both channels can do well opposite the soaps. I hope Birds can reach 5m at least in the strong schedule.

Wow, great night for BBC2. Inside the Factory is a wonderful show, a standout hit of the year for the channel, and Gregg Wallace suits the format really well.

Dread to think how low this will be by Friday.

The Cruise is shown rather a lot.

The tribute wasn't on against another soap.

That certainly seems the case with Alan Carr. And some bad programmes too.

The Brits launch used to be on ITV2 now they've moved it to ITV.

Ah. For that reason I can sort of see it struggling as I think it'll only appeal to a niche audience. Do we know how it did last year?

Guessing the Paul O'Grady thing tanked then if it wasn't in ITV's top 3?

Alan Carr's not poorly scheduled, he's always had shows at 10pm on C4 and it's never been a problem in the past. His popularity just seems to have massively nosedived this year for some reason.

Pretty good start for WSM considering these are just the heats and not the actual finals.

*New programme on ITV3 claxon*

Tonight at 9, Les Dawson forever.

Wonder why it isn't on the main channel?

It would definitely be a better list if they just included one rating for each programme.

Does anyone know what the big new hopes for the two channels are to replace GBBO and PE2 in that list?
Well to be precise, just high hopes for a new show, clearly nothing new is likely to get in the Top50 ahead of SCD, IAC and BGT.

All I know of for the BBC is LIS and Taboo. We had that long list of dramas being made but I don't know if any of them are a new Night Manager coming with lots of hope and expectation.

As for ITV, their best hope might be the Grand National. Am i right in saying LBS, Voice, Karma Hospital and Halcyon are their big new (I'll include Voice for this) hopes for new 2017 programmes?

I remember Hilda very well yet I don't remember Elsie at all. This makes no sense since Elsie only left three years prior to Hilda. Quite why I remember Ken and Albert, Rita and Len, Annie, Eddie and the Ogdens but not Elsie I can't fathom.

To think they were around just as the Watts, Fowlers and Beales came on to the landscape and whilst the Carringtons, Colbys, Ewings and Barnes families were also hugely over.
Toss in Brookie, EF, TTHRoad, Young Doctors, Sons and Daughters, Knotts Landing, Falcon Crest, Country Practice and err Albion Market and you've got the absolute golden few years of soap in the UK.

I'll guess there's around 10m alive who watched Corrie when Hilda was on. I can imagine 5m+ will eventually see this programme, it'll repeat pretty well.

The Express must be horrified to learn that most people in their 20s have no memory of Princess Di.

I noticed an Xmas edition of America's Got Talent aired recently, I wonder if a similar version of BGT would do well for ITV on Christmas Eve? You could have the top three acts perform from this year plus a couple of artists that sing famous Christmas songs and a West End cast performance. I think it would get at least 6.5m.

It seems to have worked quite well for AGT. It didn't do as well as the regular series but it got a good audience. It got 9.5m and a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo, whilst the main series this year averaged 11.4m and a 2.4. It won the night quite easily.

From what I saw it was a mixture of contestants from this year, former contestants, a few guests and some duets. All with the judges thrown in. Looks like it was nice and festive and seems to have been received quite well.

It was filmed with the main series and I'm not sure what the practicality of doing that with BGT is as obviously the BGT live shows are all done in a week. But it's definitely worth considering. It wouldn't do as well as the main series but could be a strong Christmas offering. Now that Cowell has done it in America I wouldn't be surprised if he pitches the idea to ITV.

I've suggested it for over three years - now that he's done it in America I suppose that increases the likelihood of it happening. As you say, I don't think it'll be huge but I think it could still do pretty well for light entertainment standards.

A combination of that and a Christmas edition of Takeaway would be perfect but Ant & Dec don't seem interested in that, sadly. It has been 7 years since the last one.

It would probably be quite difficult to organise, I can't see anybody wanting to get into the festive spirit in May, when ordinary BGT finishes. You also wouldn't want such a long gap between the filming and air date, in case some sort of scandal broke and the episode becomes unusable (plus it wouldn't be very topical). The problem with filming it later on in the year is the studio would need to be assembled specially (Unless ITV went with a different set dressed for Christmas, which means there wouldn't be an issue).

I agree that I could definitely see Cowell pitch it to ITV.

Well this is interesting.

Breaking...@bbcstrictly has had its best series EVER! The series average is over 11m and we've had a record audience share too. Thank you 💃✨

I wonder if they are just including live shows and not results shows as the current average is 10.86 Million and to get over 11 Million the Final needed a consolidated figure of 14.36 Million. I highly doubt the Final would have timeshifted 2.5 Million viewers by Wednesday.

Yes, there could probably be a few issues on the organisation front although I can't see it being that topical (unless you have one of the comedians on). They could always hold it somewhere like the London Palladium rather than the studio though. The Royal Albert Hall would be nice - I've thought they should hold the final there.

I'll give them the record audience share bit but I don't know where they got that 11m figure from.

The celebration they did for the final of BGT this year, celebrating 10years, went down well. Something like that would be good for a Christmas Special.

Victoria might increase for series 2 if not against Poldark. The Durrells? Broadchrch series 3

The Halycon is definately a contender, if its not lost by SW against it.
