Yes, and perhaps they think its long enough since Last Choir Standing(2008) to push it back into BBC1 primetime. LCS only lasted a series and went out in July/August. I will hazard a guess this format does the same. In addition to Malone, there are regular choir competitions on Songs of Praise-so I think this just says there is nothing better on the horizon.

Incidentally Only Men Aloud, who won LCS, are still active-although they are only an 8 piece choir having started out as 15 (according to wiki)

It wouldn't be surprising. Its a very poor mans Little Britain. I smiled a few times, but it comes across as something that needed a hell of a lot more work.

What the influx of singing shows will do to Britain's Got Talent will remain to be seen. I imagine that will still see young singers, pop singers and choirs etc but perhaps not as much as previously.

No I definitely mean lower as some of that BBC2 Scotland audience might be minimal. And I think Inside The Christmas Factory would be around that figure anyway as it was earlier this year..

Quote:
“Paul O Grady struggled, he's normally a lot higher than that. Maybe the show just didn't appeal to people. The Graham Norton Story did well for Channel 5. Not quite as strong for Lip Sync Battle though although it might improve with a Celebrity Big Brother lead-in (or Big Brother, whichever it's being scheduled alongside).”

Most other 9pm programmes were more appealing than O'Grady's. A popular drama on BBC1 and a popular factual programme on BBC2.

Walliam's and Friend is not however. A shame it bombed, but it wasn't particularly funny.

Another series of Come Fly With Me would be most welcome though...

But in a statement to RadioTimes.com, the BBC said: “

We won’t be making a decision on more Walliams and Friend until this series has aired in full.

“Needless to say, the series backs BBC comedy’s commitment to working with the very best comedy talent, and that we are the only broadcaster with a commitment to the sketch show format. We’re proud of what David has achieved and the fantastic calibre of guest stars who’ve appeared each week.”

The show premiered with a one-off special last Christmas, featuring guest star Joanna Lumley, and drew in massive audiences of 6 million. However, the first full run hasn’t proved to be such a hit and the latest episode was only viewed by 2.3 million.

Actors and comedians who have appeared alongside Walliams have included Meera Syal, Harry Enfield, Sheridan Smith, Jack Whitehall and Miranda Richardson.

Please be true. It has been awful. Nowhere near the leagues of Little Britain and Come Fly With Me. Funny how the Lucas/Walliams partnership always yields better returns than either on their own. Yes the Walliams book adaptatiions have done well but not the sketch shows.

I've always believed that the BBC should prioritise quality over ratings. However, WAF is not a ratings winner or of high quality.

You don't like the sound of Brittania? That is the one that most appeals to me, I'm surprised it's not going on sky Atlantic.
SSGB appeals most of the three BBC dramas there though I've seen season 1 of Man in the High Castle which will be hard to beat.

Sky incidentally has £700m committed to original TV and film output covering over 1000 hours of airtime.

Xmas Day at 17:45 should be interesting with Doctor Who up against Morecambe and Wise and Emmerdale and Bear Hunt/Home Alone and Singing in the Rain.
The Last Dragonslayer on sky1 is the sort of big Xmas event that you'd expect on BBC1 and clashes with Doctor Who and SCD.

I can't disagree. I like David but Walliams & Friend has done nothing for me.

Ever since his partnership with Matt Lucas broke up he's struggled to find a comedy hit. From the bits I've heard, it was Matt's decision to end the partnership as he decided to move to the US. I'd quite like another series of Come Fly With Me, something which may have definitely happened had... well, what happened happened. Big School didn't really work although it did have some amusing moments.

It got an overnight of 3.83m, the official rating was less than 5.39m. Nowhere to be seen in the iPlayer report so less than 500k requests. I suppose they must have accumulated all the repeat showings.

A bit weird that they've chosen to use that accumulated rating and compare that to an overnight rating for the latest episode... Most one-off sketch shows at Christmas time wouldn't get commissioned on a rating of 3.8m. Mind you, I might be wrong! Maybe this is to do with the BBC wanting to keep Walliams sweet as they don't seem to be doing another adaptation this year. It was supposed to be Awful Auntie (as they reported last year that Billionaire Boy and Awful Auntie were the next ones they got the rights to - they aired the former on New Year's Day).

Britannia has a good cast Zoe Wanamaker and David Morrisey, seems they are hyping it up to be a GOT, not sure, " Warrior Woman Vs Rome".

I think Doctor Who will do very well, advance viewings have praised it on high, and say the series reset. Normally Christmas rates better then the series, and with a break if a year there is lent up interest. Matt Lucas will also bring interest.

DW Vs Emmerdale is a good alternative, and BBC1 could potentially have 10/12 million viewers with Bake Off, handed to DW.

First Two/ Three were hit hard by IACGMOOH, so maybe why they look at " All viewers " to be honest in hindsight starting it against IACGMOOH was rather stupid.

I agree that it was. But another nice touch would be to give Eamonn and Ruth their own credits. They do the show for weeks on end now (every Friday, all Summer, half term, all this week) and constantly do so behind the credits promoting Phil and Holly preening in different locations.

Surely giving their own intro to the two presenters who are on nearly as often these days is not unreasonable.

Walliams and Friends is rating worse than Goodnight Sweetheart, which viewers wanted back but the BBC did not do apparently as it did not rate well enough. So on that basis it has to be gone, surely.

That Paul O'Grady factual piece was not deserving of such a low rating. It might have been niche, but I suspect had it been on another night or promoted it would have done better. Tuesday 9pm factual does not work. Move away from this ITV and start launching some dramas here.

I like the new Tuesday schedule of Martin Clunes Islands of Austrailia at 8pm, but Sugar Free Farm at 9pm, I bet will drop under 3m. I would have preffered this:

8pm Sugar Free Farm (x4 weeks) Martin Clunes Islands of Australia (x3 weeks)
9pm Benidorm

Benidorm would have complemented Silent Wintess, and as it is a comedy now in its last throws of life, might as well use it to support Tuesday.

If people really liked it, it would have timeshifted a fair bit and seen an increase in numbers now I'm a Celebrity has finished. Neither has happened so I wouldn't blame I'm a Celebrity.

Plus it's on Sky, which is usually a big no,no for you. I wonder if the channels that the dramas will be airing on were removed from the synopsis', certain people might have different views...

Doctor Who has certainly been missed this year, so it will be nice to see it's return. However, I don't know if the absence has built anticipation or has lost all the show's momentum. The show's merchandise market is certainly dead, which BBC Worldwide cannot be too impressed about.

True, but my point it was strangled at birth, let's say Apprentice as an example, or The Missing, it's built up an audience then goes against IACGMOOH the viewers chooses which one to watch, and will catch up on the other as they know it and invested time on it. Yes WAF it's easy to catch up, but with one episode at Christmas before it gad no locality. I like it but agree some bits of it are unfunny and once you had the joke once, like the advert for the album, then that's it.

You again, are not in my house and do not know what I watch, my Virgin media package includes Sky.

I took off many of the channels the drama would be shown on to make it far less BBC Vs ITV, and in order of the Radio Times choice of the top 17 dramas in 17.
