So you've said in the same post you won't watch it because it's a copy cat show and then because it won't have a "BBC tone". So do you want it to be like a BBC show or not?

It's nothing like the X Factor. It's more like a version of Strictly, with less ballroom dances but other famous dances being recreated using the latest special effects. Still not interested?

What on earth has The X Factor got to do with it? It's finished for this year but even still, I don't understand why it needs to be dragged into every argument. Aaron didn't even mention The X Factor.

Instead of dismissing any criticisms of the Radio Times report because they're "rarely wrong", why not check the figures?

It's feels really odd to have a quiet night during the Christmas period ratings wise even though they happen more often than not. Last Tango in Halifax did well but seems lower than previous full series, possibly because it had little time to build the usual momentum? From here it sounds like it was setting up a new series so I wonder when that will air?

Holby City as consistent as ever despite ITV seemingly being ever so slightly more competitive than usual in the slot. Paul O'Grady's Fairy Tales flopped though; was there a reason that had to air at 9pm as, simply by the title, it strikes me as more of a teatime show to me.

BBC Two had an excellent night with three shows the right side of 2m and, in the case of MasterChef and Inside the Factory over 2.5m. Channel 4 and Channel 5 struggled slightly yet again; Alan Carr seems to be losing viewers no matter what he presents now whilst I can't help but feel The World's Strongest Man sticks out in Channel 5's seemingly female skewing schedule.

Both of the 'main' soaps did well; is EastEnders finally discovering some momentum approaching Christmas? Emmerdale's epsiode was stunning and I'll be interesting to see how much it timeshifts.

I said purely coincidental same as Dancing on ice was clearly an original format and any resemblance to Strictly bar the ice, is purely coincidental.

And the sane as the New BBC Cooking show with Mel, Sue, Mary and Nadia will be purely coincidental to a format in a tent now on 4.

Last night's ratings make you wonder what ITV can really do with Tuesdays. Drama? Entertainment? Or just stick with cheap factual?

I think despite last year someone on here stating this thread was very pro-ITV (when The Sound Of Msic Live was being praised), it feels to me, so much more pro-BBC. So much so, some are so BBC pro, they think are other channels are beneath them.

They won't watch Downton Abbey or Victoria because its on ITV. They won't watch National Treasure because its on Ch4. But they will watch anything on the BBC, because its the BBC so it must be pure quality.

You can support a channel and be loyal, but that doesn't mean you can only watch one channel and slate the rest. Why not try something on a different channel. It won't hurt. There is nobody on here who is so pro-ITV they won't watch other channels. But there are people on here who are so Pro-BBC they won't watch other channels.

I am pro-ITV, I also support the BBC. I watch ITV, BBC, CH4, 5 and many others.

Aaron probably responds to your posts so often because he feels they are deliberately inflammatory.

I want a show that is BBC in tone on the BBC. The BBC gets the vibe right. It is so British. I love it Aaron.

If it is about songs from musicals/songs from pop videos...sounds very X Factor to me. It doesn't sound very original or creative. What is the point in re-creating pop videos? Just watch the originals. Not my sort of show at all. I like quality. I like non-sensationalist. I like talent...respected talent involved with a show...Andrew Lloyd Webber, Gareth Malone...Craig Revel-Horwood and Darcey Bussell, for example.

Your 'purely coincidental' comment was made as a sly dig at you believing it's a rip off of Strictly. The point I was making is that what does it matter if there are pure coincidences?

We aren't having an argument. This is a discussion. When you make a post, there is a chance you'll create a discussion, which is what is happening here.

X Factor is not dragged into every argument, again another exaggerated post, the fact is that six million us considered " not massive" for Walliams and freind, but thus very thread thinks 5.5 million for XF is massive. Tonight a poster hear is having a go at anyone who posts anything re the BBC, has tried to stir up a BBC Vs ITV argument ( again) I post a list of Dramas from the Radio Times printed and out today on ALL channels, that's made into an unnecessary argument that it's Sky Vs BBC.

Then the thread " jumps" ( yet again) to my personal viewing habits with an incorrect assumption, as a put down. The very same put down is then used by the same poster on Ash, re Dance dance dance to create yet another argument.

It seems this " conduct" is deemed acceptable, but criticism of any ITV show is not allowed and will be jumped on by a select few.

If any of us say why we prefer one channel/broadcaster over another, that should be good enough Hassaan.

Perceived bias alert

As I've previously explained (and as the show title suggests), Dance is quite clearly more about dancing, not singing. The show also features talented judges, and will feature contestants learning a talent.

What is the point in recreating the dances on Strcitly? I would also say Strictly is rather sensationalist, as shiny floor entertainment should be.

How can you tell there's a lack of quality when you've not even seen the thing?

It seems to me ADP that whether puposely or not, your post are designed to create a reaction. Then when it gets picked up on, you claim you are being unfairly 'pigeon-holed' and picked on, or than someone is trying to make it into a BBC V ITV argument. The latter of which you do feature in many of your posts.

Nobody is picking on you, but when you make statements or post something to irritate, you have to expect to get a response. As you do when somebody slates the BBC.

The BBC vs ITV argument on both sides is pathetic, really. But you are posting on a public forum and someone will challenge you on a point of view. That's the way it is.

I assume you've got the luxury of two weeks off work then?

I don't know about anyone else, but it isn't Christmas to me more than it was last week, and I know firmly what day it is. It's only next week when that applies. Therefore to me last night was just like any other Tuesday night when deciding what to watch on the TV.


Regarding trailers, it's always the case these days that channels don't trial everything and instead have fewer trailers playing more often. If they did advertise everything they'd be on such low rotation many viewers might not see the trailers anyway.

You like the BBC, that's fair enough. You don't want to give any other channel the time of day, that's fair enough also (even if I struggle to comprehend that mentality). But you're not any superior just because you're a fan of the BBC (if that's not what you're insinuating, then I apologise, but that's what I'm getting).

Your continued bias towards the BBC and against ITV (and everything else) is what creates disagreements. If you weren't so clearly bias all the time, you wouldn't feel that your viewing habits are being bought up.

We know you love ITV (given your constant undermining of the BBC and it's content) which you are perfectly entitled to love. Others prefer other broadcasters. My favourite by a country mile is the BBC. Variety, quality, high standards, the right tone (British) and no ads. I am of course familiar with formats like Big Brother, IAC, TXF and similar. I know what they are about. I know who they are attempting to appeal to.

No Dan, you are aggressive and rude. Somebody will comment on X Factor and you will make a personal comment towards them or about them. Totally different to the discussion that is currently going on.
