I don't think plugging The Lion King will make much of a difference either way.
Sleeping Beauty is stuck in the middle of Boxing Day afternoon; it's not their star programme of the Christmas schedule. Saying that it may have a chance considering Brave isn't the biggest of films and it has a Prisoner of Azkaban lead out.
Maybe 101 Dalmatians could be promoted slightly more but, again, it isn't the focal point. What they should really do is air a Disney trailer and promote all these films at once - call it Disney Season and see how far they get with it.”
Frozen is the biggest Christmas Day film they've put out in a while (possibly ever) - up until 2 years ago it was still huge. But I wonder if people might have become sick of it? Previous Christmas Day films did well when they were originally released but not too well so that it was still fresh in people's minds when it was premiered. I watched Toy Story 3 quite a few times and it still felt fresh on Christmas Day 2013.
Brave did 5.5m for its premiere last year but I suppose it won't be as big this time round. Normally these films don't need to be promoted that much - probably why ITV hope that people will find them themselves. I imagine they might be expecting good numbers from Captain Phillips and Amazing Spider-Man 2 (and of course The Lion King).

I'm personally not sure what they can do - The X Factor has struggled but in the face of stronger BBC1 competition, not so much. I think it has held up better than we thought. I'm a Celebrity had a strong series, but it could have been good if they had a stronger autumn. On the drama side I don't think it has been a bad year though.

Ben Shepherd isn't the best presenter I've seen but the show works. It's easy viewing I suppose.

Good rating for In Plain Sight.”
I agree. For a three-part series it has done well.

BBC1 had an OK night. BBC Two had a decent night although it's a shame Insert Name Here didn't do better.

A slight improvement for the Alan Carr show compared to Tuesday. 24 Hours in A&E doing well compared to previously.

Strong ratings for The Dog Rescuers and Countdown to Christmas. World's Strongest Man didn't do too badly either.

A pity, they should have stuck to their guns.”
Yes, although I think the Christmas Eve schedule is one of the strongest they've had (in terms of programming which should be able to get big ratings) for a while but it does seem a bit stacked and other nights have been compromised as a result.

No rating for it but I think it might have been below 3m. It's a shame it hasn't done any better but apart from Britain's Got Talent, entertainment tends to struggle in that Wednesday 8pm slot, I don't know what it is. Surprise Surprise was lower there than against Strictly. Maybe Sunday at 7pm would be better for TTNY next time round?

I thought it would be fun if we all did a top 5 on the ratings thread. My top five would be:
1. The Night Manager
2. Game of Thrones
3. Victoria
4. The Durrells
5. Happy Valley”
As I'm more of an entertainment person:
1. Britain's Got Talent
2. Would I Lie to You?
3. The X Factor
4. Saturday Night Takeaway
5. I'm a Celebrity
...
6. The Last Leg
7. The Great British Bake Off
