Might not get much chance to post over the next few days, so I'd just like to wish everybody on the Ratings Thread a very happy Christmas!

I forgot how cheaply made Peter Kay's Comedy Shuffle is. Clips from The Paul O'grady show and DVD extras so far with no linkage between them.
Speaking of Peter Kay, why didn't they do a Christmas special of Car Share? The ratings for it were pretty good - I'm surprised they've not got a Christmas special out of it.

Peter Kay is a big enough draw so I can imagine this will get a decent audience tonight regardless.

I've got some bad news. I won't be able to get hold of ratings over the Christmas period.

The last series of Birds was really good. I think they were told they had to do something really different with the Christmas Special when they didn't need to push the boat out quite so far. It was still an enjoyable enough hour for me though.
Christmas specials when they go abroad are always a bit mixed quality wise, I would say that often applied to the sitcoms in the 90s as well. The writers are under pressure to do something big and different.

Really? Do you get yours from the same place as rzt?

Re: Peter Kay. I think he's notoriously lazy, so 3 episodes for a second series is all he can manage.

No. I get the reports sent to me but the person who is forwarded them (to forward to me) is away for Christmas. Maybe he'll manage to get hold of them some other way but we'll have to make do with the data posted by rzt, Ray and the various Twitter sources.

Well BOAF looked expensive but the script was so weak it ruined it all. Blankety Blank needed 15 minutes chopped out of it.
Yes, 45 minutes is the right amount for these sorts of gameshows. It did look a bit cheap but some of that was probably intentional. The celebrity part of the set needs to be bigger. That's how I remember it from the Terry days.

Good riddance 2016.

Well rzt and Ray are pretty resourceful, so we might perhaps get away with it.

Thanks anyway.

(and thanks for posting the Christmas Eve ratings earlier)

Lesley Joseph has been on TV three times tonight, twice at the same time. David Walliams has been on twice, Joe Lycett has been on twice,

Also notable, due to those advertising rules, at least half of Blankety Blank and a Through the Keyhole aired with no adverts

He should be done for being lazy - either do the show or don't or face a ban.

Well, I'm enjoying it.

If you want cheap wait for BBC One on New Year's Eve - two primetime repeats and an episode of Casualty!
Only realized today that next week's Pointless Celebrity is a repeat. Come on, BBC1!!! I know it's New Year's Eve and everybody's out partying so there's little point in them making much of an effort, but a NEW episode of PC at 7.45pm hardly ranks as event television.

I notice they are actually showing Pointless repeats at the normal 5:15pm time slot next week, one thing actually showing Pointless, the second that they are at 5:15 with the schedule seemingly worked back from that.

I understand it to be four episodes.

According to Wikipedia "On 3rd December Peter Kay announced that the second series will aired on BBC in May 2017."

As far as programming goes it probably cost all of 50p to make and it looked it- Pretty unforgivable for Christmas Eve night really- I know he probably wouldn't have done it but a Car Share special would have fit perfectly

That's a shame but thanks for trying

Not sure how we'll get ratings for the earlier shows now then

On Thursday and Friday Pointless is on at 5.45pm. And I think they go back to new episodes from Thursday. The Radio Times bills Friday's episode as a repeat but I think this is a typo because the Sky EPG has been numbering the new episodes since BBC1 started showing the new series and Thursday's edition is billed as 24/55 and Friday's is billed as 25/55. All new episodes in the first week of January too according to the RT.

It's really difficult to film though. Short days in winter make it hard to film. The middle of summer outside the car wouldn't be very festive either.

Tonight BBC4 screened Top Of The Pops: Christmas Hits between 9pm and 10.30 and then BBC2 screened Christmas TOTP2 Special (repeat) between 10.50pm and 12,20am. They're currently showing Dennis Waterman and George Cole singing () What Are We Gonna Get 'Er Indoors (no 21 in 1983). Not good to have so much cheese at this time of night. It could give you nightmares.

(Welcome back, roll-eyes)

The BBC Pointless website confirms a return to new episodes on Thursday.

Yes, they can't really film it in the dark for technical reasons and, realistically, at this time of the year John and Kayleigh would be driving to work in the morning and back home in the evening in the dark. That's what I'm doing.

Rejoice as it won't last long.

How many weeks will the BBC Gods grant us this time?

It would be good if they could stick with it for the six weeks needed to take them to the end of the 55 part series. It is, after all, the height of winter when ratings are supposed to be at their highest.

Just in case I don't post any more comments tonight, Merry Christmas to all you ratings fans.
