You feel for them now, just wait for New Year's Eve where new episodes of Ninja Warrior UK and Take Me Out plus a film premiere get beaten by repeats of Pointless and Mrs. Brown's Boys plus a run-of-the-mill episode of Casualty!

I think its shows that viewers want LE like Big Show. If Ant & Dec did one on Christmas Eve, I'm sure it would do well.

I think CTM and Maigret will do really poorly today.

Not too bad for the blankety blank, all things considered. Is that Corrie's lowest ever rating?

I'm convinced Corrie is going to fail to make the top 10. Call The Midwife will kill it off.

You can see why they have put Harry Potter on most nights. It will do better than new programming.

Judging by those figures, the Doctor Who Christmas Special might dip below 5 million.

Thanks.

BB not too bad all things considered. Poor for Corrie, Birds, Grantchester. And dire for TTK.

Appalling all round for ITV. We watched Kylie's Christmas last night. It was brilliant, Channel 5 should have ran it.

Merry Christmas one and all.

Fudd, can we do a quick change to our ratings predictions?

Midwife won't "kill off" Corrie. The two will cancel each other out, they were both up against each other last year. But, as I said, we're definitely in for low ratings all round tonight. It's not the fault of the shows themselves.

I'm guessing the ratings will be very similar to last year, maybe even lower

Great rating for The Lady in the Van. Looks like it might have beaten ITV across most of its slot. They had a solid night overall.

A strong night for Channel 4, with an excellent rating for We're Going on a Bear Hunt. Solid for Gogglesprogs and Cats Does Countdown - I reckon both should be above (or near) 2m with +1.

Whoever said Blankety Blank would be around 3m, give yourselves a pat on the back. I suppose that's a passable rating for it but pretty poor for the rest of the schedule. That's definitely one of Coronation Street's worst ever overnight ratings. Grantchester doesn't look that bad but still pretty poor. I did think Through the Keyhole would struggle being on that late but I thought it might manage 2m at least.

Looks like people were right when they said ITV stacking Christmas Eve was a bad idea. I agree that Blankety Blank might have done better on Christmas Day. At least you can't say they didn't try - is it any wonder they've stuck Harry Potter on most nights in primetime? At least they won't pull in an embarrassing rating compared to last year when they did put out new programming.

ITV's ratings for primetime might look poor but that's a poor rating too. I can't say I'm surprised - these music specials are no longer a huge draw. Unless you're someone like Adele.

These ratings don't bode well for tonight. I think one show will be lucky to break 6m in the overnights to be honest.

No, it took me long enough to input them once! Plus I've still got to get around to setting up New Year week.

Let's wait until we see everything timeshift 3m instead of calling ratings over this period "dire".

MM should have done better, shows the SCD lead-in was giving it a big inflation.

Shocking to see Corrie so low. I thought it had a good chance of beating EastEnders today, now I'm not so sure.

I guess the days of being able to plonk soap episodes wherever it suits expecting viewers to loyally follow are well and truly over. It was probably more of a hindrance to them than a help last night as perhaps Blankety Blank would have rated better away from Pointless.

To be fair, these are the overnight ratings we get, so we will comment on them rather than waiting until we get the official figures. The ratings last night were generally low, it's fair to say.

BBC 1 was solid, not spectacular. Oh we're in for some disappointing ratings today I think.

Wonderful rating for The Lady in the Van, I hoped that would do well and it has! Bear Hunt did really well too, looking at that 3m figure, I think that possibly dented Corrie.”

It certainly sums up modern tv, time was a like line up would have been at least 10 million plus straight through. In all honesty, its bombed on the night.

Apart from the film (and BBC films is a real player these days), I think only Michael McIntrye can be pleased to any great extent in a tough slot. They really pushed the boat out for Christmas. Mind you, I cant remember many times when Harry Enfield has used a character like Kevin the Teenager on a family variety bill. Certainly not his earlier self. He is turning up everywhere-in Citizen Khan a few weeks ago(his character was a rich brummie-I was itching for him to say"considerably richer than yao"-especially as Khan had adlibbed a bit about Loadsamoney), Walliams and Friend, and he is in The Windsors which I must admit Iv missed out on-it seems pretty good.

Anyway, Happy Christmas to all on this thread- and a special thanks to those who provide the ratings information.
