Ah, the magic of Christmas Day ratings.

Not!

Good for Strictly - up 0.7m on last year.

Doesn't suggest brilliant things for anything else though.

We're people expecting big numbers or something? The Christmas Day ratings have been declining for years

I hope that doesn't mean POG Dogs was completely crushed.

Christmas Day ratings aren't what they were. In recent years they've been lower and lower. I think the days of big xmas day TV are over (for now). We played a game, went for a walk and then watched a film on Netflix. I'll catch up on all of the shows I wanted to watch today.

@BBCOne wins 8 out of the top 10 shows on Christmas Day

And what they are, I don't know.

NYD seems to be the new Christmas Day in terms of big ratings.

By the way, whilst we wait for more news from yesterday, C5's Big Bash Coverage is being hosted by one of the busiest men in sports broadcasting at the moment Mark Pougatch alongside pundits James Taylor and Michael Carberry from BT Sport's studios.

BT itself meanwhile which is also showing today's game are just taking the Network Ten feed from Australia with no UK studio presentation!

The other two were probably Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

At least the top Christmas Day show this year was higher than last year. Still doesn't look like there were great numbers though.

All 8 programmes between 3pm and 11 plus Em and CS on ITV.

But we knew this yesterday really.

The Queen at 3pm was most watched Xmas Day programme with 7.7m, it was on both BBC and ITV. 2nd was Strictly 7.2m, Bake Off third with 6.3m.

Wait, isn't 7.2m higher than any show managed to get last Christmas Day? Well Done Strictly! 😊

At a guess: Strictly, EastEnders, Mrs. Brown's Boys, Bake Off, Doctor Who, Call the Midwife, Frozen and The Queen.

Presumably the two soaps made it for ITV.

I expect the BBC will issue the 'Unite the Nation'/'Bring the Nation Together' press release.

I dread to think what Corrie and EE got then but I'm still sure Corrie was ahead.

This won't affect anyone who's had a bet on Strictly I don't think as they were counting the two Queen broadcasts as separate.

But yeah, it kind of sums things up well that a programme at 3pm got more bums on seats collectively than anything that followed. Uninspiring schedules certainly to blame.

And today is just the laying of the foundations. Stuff like CTM, GCBO and MBB will consolidate by millions, possibly record numbers. Overnights are no more than signposts now.

Not bad for Bake Off in that slot.

5.6m apparently for Doctor Who.

Sounds like Maigret may have completely bombed then.

Coronation Street was against Call the Midwife; EastEnders was opposite Maigret. There's no reason why EastEnders shouldn't have been ahead considering that, the fact it was Christmas and what happened on Christmas Eve.

EDIT: So I'm completely wrong then!

Wow, Frozen was a massive flop in the end.

I did have a feeling it might not do as well as people expected, but I didn't think it would be that low.

Look at Potter & The Lion KIng. Both above 3m. The Lion King not a million miles away from Frozen.

YBF stalls mometom as predicted.

So the Queen won again....guess after the referendum, some people feel more British and feel it's their duty to watch? Not happy, but horses for courses.
