Unbelievably, I just fired up the EPG and found a few things I liked the look of tonight on the main channels.
![]() ![]() Definitely the strongest night of the holidays so far with some real highlights on the big four. |

David Walliams has been dropped from the 10pm slot on Holiday Tuesday and replaced with a rightful and far superior 2012 George Michael concert.
Quote:
Before the end, George pays a moving tribute to the late Ramone, whom he describes as the most accomplished producer of the 20th century: 'He understood more about music than anyone I had ever met... And it breaks my heart that he's not around to see this album released or to watch this documentary.'

Django Unchained already aired on Channel 5 and Furious 7 probably won't be on BBC One as Channel 4 has Universal films apart from DM franchise.
Apart from The Lego Movie, all the others probably will be on earlier in the year. I'm expecting Ab Fab the Movie will be BBC One although it does depend if BBC Films fully funded or not, likewise with David Brent Life on the Road. Ab Fab is fully BBC films and distributed by Fox so imagine it will premiere on BBC2 or BBC1 Christmas 2017. |

Looking at the breakdown rzt posted, ITV was ahead of BBC One throughout most of the daytime:
- 06:00 to 09:20 - BBC One - 09:20 to 14:55 - ITV - 14:55 to 16:40 - BBC One - 16:40 to 16:45 - ITV - 16:45 to 20:15 - BBC One => swaps between BBC and ITV various times until 21:00 when... - 21:00 to 23:50 - BBC One - 23:50 to 01:20 - ITV Which probably shows that ITV's schedule was fine - but only for the period when they ran films. As soon as they went to some form of original programming, they were consistently losing to the BBC. |

I thought so and it looked wonderful. Added bonus of a trail for Endeavour in the middle of it too.

I thought so. Rowan Atkinson has turned out to be a remarkably clever piece of casting for me especially in the domestic scenes with the Mrs (Lucy Coho). The plot probably unfolds at too gentle a pace for some but it's just the way I like it.
There was one jarring moment ... but only in the final credits where a character is listed as Detetctive. A nice little for the 'waht do they teach them in schools these days' brigade! ![]() Good to hear that you enjoyed it; not the largest sample size but enough to to encourage me to watch it. I expect it to consolidate well, we shall see. From what I can tell Blankety Blank is. I'm a little surprised at the stick Walliams is getting and I say that as someone who never liked Little Britain. |

Can't help feeling the BBC treated this as a bit too convenient as well. It seems a little bit tasteless that they using George's passing to move a ratings flop out of prime-time, but maybe I'm being over-sensitive. |

Just caught up with Doctor Who and Call The Midwife. Was it just me that thought Doctor Who was total shite? It was dull, dreary and ever so pretentious.

Not dropped. He's been moved to 11.20pm. That's convenient for me who wanted to record this and Inside No 9 but couldn't record both because they clashed.

Waaaaaay to sensitive. Doing a tribute for a pop legend is hardly tasteless
so many differing entertainment 'legends' have gone this year.......it is hard to believe another one goes right at the end of it.... |

Quite poorly written in parts, funny how they added (not including ITV+1) to the Corrie figure in the list but not the other ITV shows.

Well I thought it was brilliant, bar the odd filler bit where they showed random performances from somewhere else (Teen Awards for example). Was perhaps dented by Harry Potter.
You've also got it frozen in time with Fearne and Reggie still hosting, who haven't presented together for about 10 years and aren't that current anymore. Surprising they've never moved on to using the likes of Nick Grimshaw, who despite his marmite popularity would at least keep up the tradition that a current Radio 1 host fronted the show. The fact it was bumped from the pre Queen slot it's aired in for years will have had an effect, I wonder if the are testing the water and the axe is on the cards? Quote:

Also I'd be dead against ITV showing a film repeat on Christmas Night, that would seem poor to the general public which is why they always show something which at least looks a bit special. |

Half the performances being from the Teen Awards, Glastonbury etc rather than being performed in the studio gave the impression it was cobbled together as an obligation rather than with love and care.

I think it is an obligation purely based on tradition. Grimmy's last TV outing was abject failure so I can't imagine the show would wish to be associated with him, These two would seem a safe pair of hands. At least people have heard of them. Problem is not enough people care who's in the charts anymore. It only finished 10 mins or so before the Queen didn't in, hardly some massive schedule change. |

Hopefully the bubble is finally bursting and we can have some proper comedy back on BBC One at Christmas.
We watched Father Ted on More4 for the umpteenth time instead. That's an hour and 15 minutes more than we watched of BBC One last night! As well as Goodnight Sweetheart, of course. (Sorry, could not resist).

Have to agree, the Vicar of Dibley Christmas special from 17 years ago was much funnier than anything new I have seen this year, let alone this Christmas. The BBC really should try to get them to do another next year.

The BBC have already turned down more Goodnight Sweetheart. I suppose they could always get picked up by ITV, although you'd think they'd have done so by now if they were really interested.
