From rzt again, the official for the Strictly final:

Strictly Come Dancing: The Final: 13.29m (54.3%)

Timeshift of 1.46m!

That gives this year's series an average of 10.96m (10.94m inc. launch show). Highest rated series since 2011.

Be interesting to find out what Outnumbered got .... I'm not holding much hope for a decent figure ....

Awful numbers for boxing day.

The growth of catch up viewing and other channels making an effort thus killing off the Beeb's long held advantage at this time of year is killing Christmas overnights.

Nothing to see here, let's reconvene in January for the actual ratings.

Not actually that popular once you remove it from its cushy Sunday sandwich? It was only half a million ahead of You've Been Framed!

Very disappointing for BBC1 there. The premiere of How To Train Your Dragon 2 being beaten by the umpteenth Prisoner of Azkaban repeat isn't good, but not as bad as Revolting Rhymes losing to it! Ouch.

Weak for Bake Off, I thought it had a shot at beating the soaps. Very poor for SOAH as discussed and a bit underwhelming for Witness. It's not a bad figure but a fair bit lower than the first episode of And Then There Were None. Wonder how Outnumbered did?

The ITV soaps were still dented by BBC1's offerings but surprising that EE didn't top the day. Captain Phillips did alright considering how long it is and the late finish.

The Great Chritmas Bake Off: 4.57m (21.7%)
EastEnders: 5.85m (27.8%)
Still Open All Hours: 3.16m (14.7%)
The Witness for the Prosecution: 4.69m (22.7%)

ITV inc +1
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: 3.40m (20.6%)
Emmerdale: 5.58m (26.9%)
Coronation Street: 5.96m (27.8%)
You've Been Framed: 2.61m (12.4%)
Coronation Street: 5.48m (25.4%)
Captain Phillips: 3.40m (18.3%)

Looking at those, ITV had a better night. Harry Potter doing well again there, soaps doing ok, and Captain Phillips rated better than I thought it would.

Open All Hours just dire, getting the ratings it deserves. EE ok, Bake Off disappointing. Meh, Christmas ratings to forget really.”

Pretty disappointing numbers all round. What happened to Still Open All Hours!? It has never been that low before. 4.9m was the lowest it went last year.

Not great for Revolting Rhymes and the final Bake Off. The Agatha Christie drama didn't do too badly. EastEnders was at least in line with its Christmas Day number.

Harry Potter is solid for ITV. An improvement for Emmerdale and not as bad as I thought for You've Been Framed. Not too bad for Captain Phillips.

How did Outnumbered do?

Nothing to interest us last night.

Watched Captain Phillips on Sky a year or so ago, recorded Witness to watch in a two hour session.

Hmm... 3m below its last special in 2012 but in line with the ratings the last series was getting.

Outnumbered did OK. Normally I'd say 4.5m is a bit disappointing for it but given the late slot and how everything else on BBC1 underperformed it's not too bad.

Still surprised at how low Revolting Rhymes and Still Open All Hours are.

And this is why ITV is repeating Harry Potter. Its now beaten a modern day animation premiere on BBC1 and is delivering ratings for them.

The fact is, they are good films, and with more to come (in Cinema) we are likely to find ITV will schedule them similar next year.

EE didn't top the day despite being against a YBF rpt. SOAH getting the rating is deserves.

The animation did poorly unfortuntely.

The World's Most Expensive Toys (R): 0.97m (4.6%)

Clearly viewers know what day is it, and so are in the routine of watching Corrie.

Despite SOAH poor rating, it'll get a boost in its Sunday slot.

To be honest, it was a boring night all around - I hope next Christmas the BBC watches and learns and stops shoving some of these middle class dramas like Agatha Christie on over Christmas. Put CTM on Boxing Day where it would romp home or some comedies.

Corrie - no matter what, it will have it's loyal base.

Its a fantastic film. But on BBC2, I can't see it getting a big rating even if it was earlier.

Next Christmas on ITV it will be more old films and soaps. Why put on new programming when you can coast with barely any effort?

People really like the Potter movies.

Excluding +1 I'm pretty sure that EE will have won the day

Is that why it dropped to 4.4m on Christmas Eve?

This only holds up for so long, mind.

People will put shows on record in the "I will definitely watch this" case. But then there's shows people will record and then trash a week or so later if they haven't got round to watching it.

Ouch at Still Open All Hours, I wasn't expecting it to be that low, it's supposed to be one of the main highlights.

Harry Potter is doing ridiculously well, beating BBC1 early evening is unheard of.
