Thanks for the ratings Roscoe!

Splitting The Apprentice final helped its average. With the DC crossover Supergirl couldn't get over a million? It kicked the whole thing off too.

Of course, 4.57m is a very good overnight figure for Channel 4. Not sure what figure they need to make their acquisition profitable but figure that rating would be above it.

Meanwhile, ITV lose the Harry Potter films from their daytime schedule but fill the gap today with 50 Greatest Harry Potter Moments at 4.10pm and Fantastic Beasts And JK Rowling's Wizarding World at 5.40pm. Interesting to see how those two rate. And also the Pointless Repeat on BBC1 at 5.15pm.

Re the poor ratings for Revolting Rhymes. Do you think they should have put Roald Dahl's name in the title? (Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes). I've always thought it was amiss of them not to and look what happened.

No problem lewie. And thanks for that amazing Christmas Day round-up you did yesterday. It was fantastic.

Well, it did - but, it only crossed over right at the end of the episode for about 30-seconds. It was a bog standard episode until then. And that 30-second scene was in The Flash anyway for following night so IMO Supergirl didn't really count in the crossover in that respect but it was all billed as the DC Crossover starting with Supergirl. Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow both achieved series highs too that week.

This may be good news for Stuart Little on Channel 4, As for Revolting Rhymes maybe that could work on Christmas Day at 15:10.

Can I just say a big thankyou to all those who provided us with ratings, and for rzt and lewi for creating that big round-up for Christmas Day and the breakdown.

It is very much appreciated

And to Marcus and Steve for their help in that list as well.

And to Ray for all the figures he posts daily

Pretty much what I thought after the Christmas Night ratings. I thought the first Coronation St might have cleared 6m, but it was only a gnat's chuff away. Second episode dipped against Still Open despite the sitcom struggling.

Film subdued by the late finish.

Meh.

Will be interesting to see how Still Open does on New Year's Day, with it being carefully scheduled against Coronation St again. Once they knew ITV had an NYD CS, it was pretty obvious it would be moved from 7.30 to 8pm to clash with the sitcom. No trails for last night's Christmas Special, no mention of it before EastEnders.

There's a trail for Sunday's episode, but I wonder if that's more to do with ensuring as decent as possible a leg up for Sherlock than care and consideration for Still Open.

Might one point out that it's a bit irrelevant whether the cast is alive when the main character was well and truly killed off to put the tin lid on the show?

I don't wish to suggest that you're out of touch but I really don't have any choice if you think the principal audience for Harry Potter is 12 year old boys! I suspect that you're even wrong about that in respect to Home Alone but I have less evidence there.

There's also a new series of Tracey Ullman's Show. Promoted to peak viewing?

There's that hospital comedy that came out of the Comedy Playhouse series (can't remember its name).

Porridge
Car Share (due for transmission in May according to Peter Kay)
Home From Home starring Johnnie Vegas (which came out of the New On Two pilots.)

Presumably we can "look forward to" {cough} a sixth series of Citizen Khan.
And will we get another series of Still Game?

Anything else anyone knows off?”

Mum's already been mentioned - highly recommended though not a traditional sitcom. Motherland was also commissioned after the sitcom week.

The BBC Trust working its magic, there, albeit under intense pressure from commercial broadcasters and hostile politicians.
