People were going mad on Twitter for Harry Potter, I don't really know why. I had it on as background noise whilst I was taking the tree down, rather than actually watching it.
Holby has a pretty solid audience, regardless of what's on. ITV should try and get Aladdin for next year. I think they should try and get Snow White & The Seven Dwarves for Christmas Day next year. While the BBC has the modern films, ITV show the Classic Disney. |

At the family party i was at yesterday, the only time a group of adults all huddled to watch the TV was when Strongest Man was on. It was like a football match with lots of men watching and discussing it.
C5 should get some good advertising money for its 750k viewers. |

Good for EE. Would be nice for it to be close to 7m NYD.

ITV2 is certinaly top multi-channel. Its beaten E4 by 1m viewers or so in the evening.
EastEnders has got a little boost, though it is Tuesday - traditionally their strongest day. Excellent for Marigold and Inside No 9. Good for the Harry Potter rpt. But next year I think ITV should push the Harry Potter films earlier in the day and have a new programme/drama at 9pm. |

As for Harry Potter, shouldn't we address the elephant in the room here? These are the first ITV screenings for 18 months or so and it appears the break has done them the world of good from a ratings perspective Contrast this to Despicable Me which was now been shown a shameful FOURTEEN times since last Christmas, with a further screening scheduled over New Year. No wonder it failed to rate for the main channel on Christmas Eve. |

Invaluable title to have around. They won't better that rating all week.

These are the first ITV screenings for 18 months or so and it appears the break has done them the world of good from a ratings perspective Contrast this to Despicable Me which was now been shown a shameful FOURTEEN times since last Christmas, with a further two screenings scheduled over New Year. No wonder it failed to rate for the main channel on Christmas Eve. Yes Despicable Me did show a fairly low figure for hristmas Eve, especially when you compare it to the 2nd film which has only been shown once and achieved 1m more viewers. What ITV should be doing is using other popular animated titles to use over the year like Toy Story/Shrek to give each film a rest before the next screening. I would say this Christmas ITV have had more success with their films than BBC1. When you consider we were all predicting Frozen would perhaps be nudging 7m in that 3.10pm slot, only for it to pull in under 5m and The Lion King to give it a run for its money. |

And how do we think Jonathan Creek will fare in the overnights tonight. It has to be above 5m. Surely? Surely?!! I'm hoping it will be closer to 6m than 5m, perhaps just over rather than just under. . |

From rzt:
Inc +1 Emmerdale: 6.00m (28.7%) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: 3.82m (18.2%) EastEnders: 6.08m (28.4%) Holby City: 4.09m (19.6%) The Witness For The Prosecution: 4.49m (20.8%) Ratings pretty much what you would expect, would even say they were normal for a "non-festive" Tuesday really. Harry Potter doing well, ITV have been justified in putting those films on. What's the point in showing brand new programming that will get sub 2m? Yes it may seem lazy but when an umpteenth film showing pulls in nearly 4m you can see why they do it. ITV will be glad when all the new star wars films have been released, then they will have 12 (or 9 saga films) to play continously there.

Dancc - I digress here but do you know if the Battle Bots showing all this week on C5 is the same one that was shown on Spike recently? It was billed as "NEW" in the TV Times but I think it has been on Spike - it looks very familiar!
![]() Originally they were only going to show it around 10am in the old "Ice Road Truckers" slot through the holidays, but in later schedules it got promoted to sit just outside peak. Would be interesting to know how it's doing. I actually prefer it to Robot Wars, the OTT American style really suits this type of programme. Its numbers on Spike were just okay in the end. |

Isn't the Potter films' renewed success (apart from being very suited to Christmas more than any other time of the year...) likely to be down to, in part, the Fantastic Beasts film and all that has accompanied it? I mean it has been everywhere with so much hype and publicity that no doubt it rejuvinated peoples interest in the source material. Perfect timing really.

Hmm, maybe, but it didn't do very well on BBC2 at all, it was in the Miranda slot at 8.30 of course but did very poorly there. When they moved it to BBC1 at 10.45 the ratings shot up, it did pretty well last time in the slot, it certainly stayed consistent throughout the run. I wonder if it's been held back because his radio show was on before Christmas and they didn't want the two running at the same time.

The movie repeats did really well for ITV2. Skyfall consistently manages 1m for ITV2 so I'd say quite a lot over accumulated showings. A quick look on Overnights.tv shows that Skyfall has been shown 11 times on ITV2 including last night. Each time it has ended up being split around something like FYI Daily. Anyone know how the George Michael concert did on BBC One at 10pm, as well as Walliams and Friend? |

Does this mean Hollyoaks' first look episode didn't make E4's Top 3 shows last night? Surely it was higher than 140k?!
