Could ITV try a different film series next Christmas - Star Wars or James Bond? Could either match Potter in the ratings. Or the demographics?
To Walk Invisible tonight will do well if it gets above 4m in the overnights. Hard to see it reach 5m.
What sort of rating can BBC1 expect from Captain America tomorrow night? Could he get above 5m? Would he appeal to the same audience as Potter but take the viewers away from him?
Currently got on The Good Old Days from 1959 on iPlayer. BBC4 choosing to repeat this one because it has Morecambe & Wise in it so it has heavy curiosity value. They're why I've put it on.
I notice from the BBC Genome website that even back in 1959, 24 years before the BBC ended it, it was being screened outside peak-viewing, at 10.45pm. BBC TV's Christmas Day that year (no BBC1 or BBC2 back then, just one BBC TV channel) was High Noon at 8.20pm and Bleak House by Charles Dickens at 9.50pm. The way things are going with Christmas ratings that might well be the sort of line-up BBC1 will opt for
next Christmas.
