I hate to break it to you but it's not Christmas any more!

Has anybody got yesterday's dsytime ratings for BBC1 & 2, ITV, CH4, CH5

Hi. It's rare that you'll find daytime ratings on here, they simply are hard to get. Occasionally somebody will do us a solid and post them here but that's only once or twice a month.

As a rule the ratings on here will cover the primetime hours. Welcome aboard.

Just my opinion but he comes across as pretentious and pompous. Seemed to be the self proclaimed ratings announcer for the BBC when Pointless was thumping The Chase, gone all quiet with that now I see...


I was really disappointed with this (will go for it again tonight though) - apart from a couple of battles the contests were deadly dull, absolutely flat in comparison to the American Battle Bots (rptd on C5). And the battle between Dara and his co-host was embarrassing, a complete waste of time.

C4-15: 529k (32.8%)... 13% skew
16-34: 952k (31.0%)... 23% skew
35-44: 615k (23.5%)... 15% skew
45-54: 878k (23.8%)... 21% skew
55-64: 616k (16.5%)... 15% skew
65+: 553k (8.7%)... 13% skew

So pretty popular across all age groups, particular the younger audience.

I enjoyed Jonathan Creek, but I don't know if I'd be very upset if Renwick decided not to write any further episodes. Seven episodes in twelve years suggests he might not be finding it very easy to come up with new ideas now.

5.1m looks a bit underwhelming at first glance, but quite a few BBC One primetime programmes haven't got close to that over the last week, and I'm not sure any ITV programmes other than the two soaps have.

I would suspect whether it gets another run or not depends on if BBC America want another run.

They're decent shares for the older ranges which you'd expect for anything that pulls in over 4m. Over half of its audience was under 46 which is what you'd expect but pretty hard to do these days.

That breakdown is about as good as itv can hope for from Dance. The Voice and LIS should skew a bit older and get over 5m.

Could ITV try a different film series next Christmas - Star Wars or James Bond? Could either match Potter in the ratings. Or the demographics?

To Walk Invisible tonight will do well if it gets above 4m in the overnights. Hard to see it reach 5m.

What sort of rating can BBC1 expect from Captain America tomorrow night? Could he get above 5m? Would he appeal to the same audience as Potter but take the viewers away from him?

Currently got on The Good Old Days from 1959 on iPlayer. BBC4 choosing to repeat this one because it has Morecambe & Wise in it so it has heavy curiosity value. They're why I've put it on.

I notice from the BBC Genome website that even back in 1959, 24 years before the BBC ended it, it was being screened outside peak-viewing, at 10.45pm. BBC TV's Christmas Day that year (no BBC1 or BBC2 back then, just one BBC TV channel) was High Noon at 8.20pm and Bleak House by Charles Dickens at 9.50pm. The way things are going with Christmas ratings that might well be the sort of line-up BBC1 will opt for next Christmas.

I can see a repeat of the James Bond series in the run up to the Spectre premiere (providing that does premiere next year) doing quite well. A repeat of Quantum of Solace did 4.4m opposite EastEnders and Mrs Brown's Boys (which were both above 8m) a few years ago.

I hope Charlie Brooker's 2016 Wipe does well tonight.

Incidentally, ITV did a four parter back in 1973, The Brontës of Howarth. Interesting family, tonight's version should be worth a look.

A week or two ago on here I mentioned an interview that Warwick Davies gave in (I think) The Mail where he said this was the final episode.

But then he seemed to realise he had said something not meant to be public and backed off. He suggested that it was just a 'feeling' that he got whilst on the set from those around him and added that he was hoping for a spin off series featuring his character. Though that was possibly meant as a joke.

BIB - funnily enough I was thinking that too, might be worth doing that next year!

The Good Old Days - great programme, sadly I remember it first time round (the 1970s!)

That was a brilliant series with Alfred Burke made by Yorkshire,the sort of programme ITV should be repeating on ITV3.

I don't think the Bronte drama will do much, maybe 3-4m as it's on for two hours although I've seen a lot of trailers for it.

Had hoped Ethel and Ernest would get more than it did, was the best thing I've seen on TV this Christmas.

Any predictions for New Year's Day? Surely Mrs Brown should do better than last year, that was on at a ridiculously late time.

Sherlock does have a slightly better start time than last year too. It got 8.4m then - depending on how that went down last year, it could be up or down. I'll go for between 8-8.5m. Maybe on the higher end of that range.

Mrs Brown should be higher. I think it'll be on the higher end of 6m at least. It's a shame we're not getting a series. I know it's contracted to Xmas specials til 2020 but if Brendan wanted to, surely he'd do another series?

Don't Sky currently have a Star Wars channel showing all the films? I'm guessing buying the rights to them would be pretty expensive, even for ITV.

They already repeat the Bonds a lot so not sure how much impact that would have.

I suppose Sky didn't have the decency to suspend the showing of three of the films for 24 hours following the death of Carrie Fisher.

I can't call the Sherlock rating, maybe 8.5m. I don't watch it so can't comment on quality, etc.

MBB on NYD 2015 got 7.94m but that was shown at 21:35 after a high rating EastEnders. I'll go for 6.9m.

Reckon the Fireworks should get well over 11m, a nice big rating to finish the year off.

@RL - Yes sky currently have a box set of Star Wars available but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have it in a few month's time. It's possible they could have Bond or Potter instead by next Xmas.
You can understand why itv run the Potter films a lot because they might not get them back for ages.

Nobody seems to have Bond presently. Or someone is holding him back.

Not showing her films is the decent thing? So why did the radio play George Michael songs? In fact, they seemed to go out of their way to play more of his songs. And Status Quo.

Sky created a boxset of Carrie Fisher films though there is only one non SW film in there (When Harry Met Sally).

How do people think about Noel Edmonds doing a new show straight after DOND ended. It's a Live CH4 show called "Sell Or Swap" based on the 70's show swap shop. Do you think it's going to be a ratings hit or a ratings flop. The show is going out at 7pm tomoroww.
I have tickets for the rehearsal in the morning & tickets for the live show.

ITV have been showing them up until the Christmas break, they still have rights to Skyfall (showing Sunday) and Quantum of Solace which is on tonight, so wouldn't it be ITV who currently hold the rights?
