It would be higher than what ITV's other light entertainment singing show was getting, so yes I'd say 6m would be a good starting figure.
If it starts at 6m then it doesn't give it much room to fall at all as the launch was the highest rated show last year wasn't it? If it follows it's normal ratings trajectory it'll be under 4m for the lives which would be a disaster |

The Voice's launch is 95 minutes not 85. The same length as BBC1's launch episode this year, but including adverts so in reality it'll be 20-25 minutes shorter.
Keyhole starts at 9.35pm and is in a 55 minute slot. |

Since when did XF start with 6 million?
X Factor 2016 overnight ratings: Saturday 27th August: 6.80m (800,000 higher than your 6m number) Sunday 28th August: 6.26m (almost level YOY) Saturday 3rd September: 8.28m (up YOY) Sunday 4th September: 7.64m (up YOY) Saturday 10th September: 7.44m Sunday 11th September: 7.20m (almost level YOY) Saturday 17th September: 7.70m (up YOY) etc. etc. Launching with 6 million would put The Voice down a million from even last year's disaster, and you'd call it a success. Bit odd. ![]() You put "etc. etc" giving the impression ratings stayed at that level, which we know is not entirely true... X Factor was on something like 5.6m in the back half of the competition on the overnights, which I notice you've decided not to post. If The Voice got 6 million overnight, it would beating X Factor, which is what I said originally isn't it Dan? Consolidated, I would expect The Voice to be closer to 8 million, which would certainly be matching XF. |

I think it needs to start higher than that, it has a plum slot, little competition apart from the last 25 mins of LIS, and a decent amount of interest in its return.

If it follows it's normal ratings trajectory it'll be under 4m for the lives which would be a disaster I also think ITV need to work on it's channel image. It feels cold and cheap, compared to BBC 1 which seems classier and warmer. |

I can't see it being that much higher, but I might be surprised. |

I never knew things had gotten that bad for it
![]() As for Dance³, if it can get over 3.5m then people on here say it will have done enough. If it tops 4.5m it might get bumped to a prime Saturday slot. |

Who knows, weve seen some surprise ratings from ITV so far this Christmas, even if it's down to Harry Potter. Maybe ITV can start to regain some traction into the New Year?

I think 5.5m would be good for LIS and TVUK. That's roughly what XF was getting in November and what mm got too. XF struggled to top 7m and XF is a more popular show.
But The Voice is supposed to be one of the 'big four' talent shows. None of them should ever be posting numbers below 6m or indeed 7m, not even by The Voice's lower standards. |

How do people think the return of World of Sport Wrestling will do tomorrow? It's had a fair bit of press coverage and it looks like ITV want a full series of some nature in the future.
I think this could anywhere between ~800k and 2 million, realistically though I think it'll be on the lower end of the scale. I just don't see it drawing a big audience, sadly. ITV could recommission with ~800k though and place it on ITV4 with specials on ITV, but we shall see. |

For LIS it would be fine I guess, launching new LE is not easy at all in this day and age as we well know.

![]() I think it'll be higher than 6m personally. Curiosity factor, new home etc, should at least see it in the 7m range at least. I don't know what to expect for it honestly. |

Yes, and I didn't defend the ratings in the 5s or make them seem good.

XF auditions is almost a different programme from XF lives, it has far wider appeal. Yeah TVUK is probably the same in that sense so maybe 6m and 5m for its two stages should be its target. |

No because pop music doesn't draw like wider variety. The BBCMA illustrated that again, the Brits struggles to pass 5m. You're asking a lot to persuade older viewers watch members of the public sing songs they don't know in the hope of cracking a chart that few care about anymore.
XF auditions is almost a different programme from XF lives, it has far wider appeal. Yeah TVUK is probably the same in that sense so maybe 6m and 5m for its two stages should be its target. The X Factor was once huge across the series among both young and older audiences with many current pop songs being used but obviously the charts don't have the same appeal now. |

As I've said previously, Let it Shine has extremely limited appeal, and I doubt it's going to do brilliantly. However, it's sandwiched in a BBC One Saturday night, which is a guaranteed 4 million viewers no matter what.

I could see it being on itv4 with the equivalent of PPVs being on itv but itv4 will be filled up by horse racing. They seem to want WoS Wrestling to be on ITV at 4pm, they could do a 180 and have the house shows on ITV and the PPV equivalents on itv4 in the evening. One thing is certain, itv are serious about this and it's clearly spooked WWE in to early retaliation. |

Is ITV shafting BTCC coverage this year because of their new found love for horse racing?

The BRITs were above 5m this year, but as far as music shows are concerned (X Factor aside) that's the best they seem to be able to manage.
The X Factor was once huge across the series among both young and older audiences with many current pop songs being used but obviously the charts don't have the same appeal now. XF made the right move in getting acts to sing older songs this year. I expect TVUK and LIS to do likewise. There's a real danger LIS could tank, itv should have put an older skewing opponent against it. The Chase might have worked well following Pointless with Ninja at 6pm. I've become H! ![]() Quote:
The Andrew Lloyd Webber shows did well enough all those years ago though, and they were each focused on one musical. Let it Shine is presumably focused on the music of Take That - not too dissimilar in my opinion. Will it do as well? I'm not sure.
Yes I'm stereotyping but TT were adored by girls who were born from about 1978-1984. Yes they've broadened their base over time but not hugely. When you look at the audience of their concerts you are most likely to see a white, 35 year old woman. They were also wildly popular initially with gay men thanks to their early live gigs. Ah, memories... |

Thought some of you might be interested, YouGov have ran a poll on people's favourite reality TV shows of 2016.
Bake Off 23%, I'm a Celebrity 20%, Strictly 20%, The Apprentice 11%, Gogglebox 11%, Big Brother 3%, The X Factor 3%. Either they didn't poll the others or they didn't register much support. They also polled overall, which Planet Earth II easily topped as well as David Attenborough getting almost double the support of Ant & Dec to top favourite personality. https://yougov.co.uk/news/2016/12/29...ins-best-2016/ |
