It will do like a summer series I agree. It's not a real series. I'm not expecting 2m+ per episode. More like 1.7mish
Why would you say this isn't a real series?

I'm going to lower my CBB prediction slightly to 2.3m.
Overnights.tv ‏@overnightstv 2m2 minutes ago
#celebritybigbrother launched on C5 to audience of 2.3m/11.9% - down 500k on 2016 launch @endemolshine @CalumBest http://www.overnights.tv
Saw this one coming.

Five won't be thrilled with that start at all. And New Life in Oz started really poorly, so a bad night for them all round except SVU which made the m/c top 10.

Half of them have been on before and forgotten about. The other half I don't even recognise! RUNNING OUT OF NAMES, C5?
Well tbh there are barely any celebs left. All reality TV lineups have been bad recently. Of course after 19 series they are running out! Every show is.

But my positivity is based on potential. Not the cast.

The damage was done last summer in my eyes with Celebrity Big Brother and Bear winning. C5 get what they deserve now for pushing for him to win.

Because it's older housemates in there too. It's kind of like the Ultimate series they had on C4. Should have left it for summer or the last ever series

Depending on the quality it might hold like previous series or plummet. We will see.

They already did a good thing....no-one from those shows which everyone asked for. That's a plus..but will the younger generation be interested??

What happened with Winter CBB? Wasn't it the highest rated one more often than not?

Tipping Point was on at around 5.00pm on Monday and had 2.85m. Impossible is better than Tenable in my opinion, that could work later in the day.

I was never going to watch Robson Crusoe or Paul O'Grady's sick/homeless dogs of the week. Both might have fared better on Wednesday with less competition.
Gotta admit, I got a bit bored by the end of Impossible. I'm not a big fan of simple question and answer formats, it's probably why The Chase bores me. I like a gimmick.

All that talk of not putting The Halcyon on Mondays made me wonder how it would have done tonight against light competition. How would Midsommer fare on Tuesday with an hour start on SW?
Or even... Midsommer on Monday [gulp].

Just from memory, ITV's News at Ten used to be in the weekly Top 20 quite a lot, and the 5.45 got big audiences too. Some of ITV's local news programmes would often be in the regional top 10s. So I think it's quite likely that the news would have been in the daily top 10s just as now.
I don't recall any news programme making the top20 when The Sun used to print it in the 80s. Maybe one was, maybe I don't remember that well or maybe the Sun excluded the news (unlikely). I do remember they changed the list to only have one episode per show because EE and Neighbours (and then H&A) took it over and made it pretty pointless.

Of course it is possible that the news was making weekday top10s but not the weekly top20 due to all of the weekend hits (Cilla, Noel, Beadle, Bruce, Bob, Daniels, Esther, MKelly, US dramas...).

Good for EastEnders.

I watched CBB, but it's a pretty dull line up. Maybe last year's fakery being exposed live has damaged the brand? (Although anybody can really see it's fake).

Lewis did okay on Tuesdays but I think the Corrie lead in does help the dramas somewhat on the other days.

I doubt we'd see two hour dramas on normal weekdays at 9pm so Midsomer on Mondays is out of the question

Yep all winter series have done fantastically. Won't do this year
It'll do like the summer CBB.

Dreadful for Big Brother, maybe people are finally done with trashy, nasty Z-list "TV".

Look at the EastEnders rating holding well.
Pleased to see EE above 7m still. They need a big story now to launch to keep viewers. That Lucy storyline did wonders for ratings.
EastEnders holding up very well. I really hope that they can continue rating like this for next few weeks as it looks set to be a great time for the show quality wise.
When was the last time EastEnders got 7m across a week? Thursday might be a stretch as it starts at 8pm.

Would it not have been their 30th live week? That would be over 7 though.

I thought the ABC version was supposed to be a flop? Sounds like Mary and Paul could get back together and one of the C4 channels might pick it up.

That's why I gulped, I meant Midsommer on at 8pm on a Monday. Okay, I confess, I forgot about EE is on at 8pm so maybe start at 8:30pm. It would still be a problem for the first episode of SW. Corrie I guess would temporarily go to Tues which would make life interesting for Holby.
You could even start Midsommer against EE and see how EE copes with strong competition. Kinda like MM v XF.

Yeah I know, I know, krazytalk - I'm a Captain Murdoch.

Thanks for these. Is that good for Impossible? I suppose it doesn't have a junction with ITV and it is early days. Interesting to see The Chase back ahead of Pointless.

You sound like a right snob! There's nothing wrong with the format, it's one of the most successful TV formats ever. However, it's feeling tired now and the current lineup is dire so less people are interested.

EE is back! And it was a stellar episode last night. ITV once again waving the flag on a Tuesday. This practice needs to be stopped. What is wrong with competition?
Everything if it's competition for competition's sake. ITV isn't in competition with BBC. It's in competition with other commercial stations for advertisers and sponsors. As long as it's meeting its needs and providing a reasonable dividend for its shareholders its scheduling is nobody's concern but its own. Having said that I can't help but wonder, bearing in mind that ITV also has to fulfil its PBS duties, whether your interpretation of 'waving the flag' has more to do with showing programmes that you don't like than anything else.

Quite poor, not dreadful. Whether it comes bring the highest rated thing on CH5 since...??Last summer? Is not dreadful. It's still ahead of anything on C5.

Just like Gogglebox, well down but still C4 highest rated? Is it eating dreadfully? Course not but it's still down 1m from last year.

How many C5 shows are over 2m ever? Erm mm.....none?

EastEnders was on Wednesday at 8pm for a week or two last year or the year before. It was ahead of Midsomer then. Midsomer would be lower than a regular episode of Coronation Street, Silent Witness timeshifts like a demon so it would end up ahead anyway. You'd be effing up your schedule for no real benefit. And who's to say they won't just move Holby to Thursday for a week or move EastEnders around? For example in around two weeks there'll be an extra EastEnders on Friday at 9pm. That could cause problems for other channels.

On Midsomer day?!
Wednesday is only Midsomer day for a few weeks. They put an episode on Sunday opposite The Apprentice final and didn't get far past 5m in the end. BBC1 are showing factual on Wednesday so Paul O'Grady and Robson Crusoe might have been a bit higher there in the weeks when ITV don't have Midsomer there.
