Most shows fall from first epidodes.
That's not true at all but whatever.

Now that's out of the way, the next few episodes will be the real test. Will it scrape a pass?

What would you say was scraping a pass? No show will be higher than launch throughout the whole series

Look at The Chase go! ITV's news hour doing well and shows how poorly ITV's News At Ten does. It followed Midsomer Murders and should be higher.

Great rating for the football. Since last season's Battle At The Bridge Spurs v Chelsea has turned into a bit of a must see fixture.

The Chase had one of its best teams on yesterday, and each went away with over 20k. An excellent rating for the show.

POG Dogs rpts well on ITV3.

A good rating for Corrie for a pretty poor episode. Emmerdale doing well. MM is down around 500k for last year. But again its not be promoted.

Shame about Italy's IC. It was quite good. The one-off last year about Rome got 4.4m on a Monday.

I'm the only one on this thread with consistency of opinion over the programme, before, during and after the channel switch. I'm part of the small group of truly 'channel-neutral' people on this thread.
You may be channel neutral but you're certainly not programme neutral.

BBC1 (Top 3: 7pm-11.15pm):
BBC News (10pm): 4.26m (24.6%)
The One Show: 3.68m (18.1%)
The Sheriffs Are Coming (R): 3.29m (14.9%)

Factual Wednesday not paying off for BBC1, quite said when the News is your top item. Sheriffs should be nowhere near primetime, at least Can't Pay is actually good. Shame for Invisible Cities as it's a great programme and very interesting.

Very good night for ITV, MM up on the first epiosde and a great figure for Corrie, highest in a long time.

CBB retention can only be described as good. The last four series have seen drops of 22%, 30%, 22% and 33% respectively from launch night to HL #1, so a drop of around 17%, potentially less including +1, is not bad going relatively speaking.

It's still up against it somewhat, obviously. But at the same time anyone who thought it was set for a real struggle could end up very disappointed.

Good soap ratings last night but I watched both and was shocked at how poor Corrie was. It's been poor for a while now but being on after Emmerdald really highlighted it. That episode did not deserve 7.7m. EastEnders will smash the officials though I can see NYD and the 2nd January over 9m and the rest over 8m. EastEnders will have the highest soap rating of the year once again

So with both EE and CS strongly up this week, here's a thought: is it not more likely that ratings for these (and indeed other programmes) are more affected by the time of year (cold weather, fewer people going out as they recover from Xmas excess etc) than by the strengths or weaknesses of the behind the scenes personnel who so obsess some?

Soap ratings are clearly seasonal - down in midsummer, up in early January - whoever is in charge, whatever the story line, and whether or not any of us actually like them or those in charge at any given time.

Very impressive night for the 'itv family of channels' - over 4m from 5-10pm and it looks like over 8m at times (including VOSDAL). A good night for advertisers what with sky sports, C4 family and C5 all also delivering plenty of viewers.

Corrie seems to be a soap that doesn't need to kill off people to get strong ratings.

EE was getting 27% shares. All three were struggling to get much over 30%. They're all now well above 30% and see to have added 10-20% to their shares. Yes the cake is bigger but they're also eating bigger slices.

NYD EE will not be over 9m. I think you are living in cockoo land. It would therefore have to timeshift 2.7m+ which it will never do. I doubt Monday won't be over 9m either.

EE would have to be just under 8m to consolidate over 9m. The likely-hood is, Monday's EE had a higher overnight as more viewers watched live.

Sheriffs is lower than I thought. Perhaps having been in daytime for so long, its less popular in primetme.

I'm pretty sure this rated well in primetime before.
Good looking "naked" figures for ITV there. Poor schedule on BBC1 from a ratings viewpoint. Sherrifs is a repeat, albeit revised. That's pretty poor for January primetime imo.
Sold a lemon from TV Times there - billed as "NEW" and yes it was revised but I couldn't believe we had former cases (seen before in the morning) swamping the hour. Should have been a whole new series, not some regurgitated nonsense going out primetime in January. Shame as I enjoy the show but won't be watching next week...

Radio Times had it down as a revised repeat.

I though the daytime ones were 45 minutes so there must have been some new stuff?

Still appalling for primetime BBC1 in January.

I actually want Big Brother to go down in the ratings. The poor casting, production shambles and no live feed means they deserve it.

Cbb is doing dreadful numbers, with the majority a dreadful cast, on a dreadful channel. Shame on endemol/channel 5 with this rubbish. Where's Julie Goodyear, Julian clary, Jodie Marsh, John Mccrimick, Verne troyer? Amongst many other names that could of been selected.

Unless my memory is going yes there seemed to be new cases in there, but after the 1st 15 minutes I ended up fast forwarding past the repeated segments to the new cases. But all in all repackaging and putting it out at 8pm for an hour - a case of for BBC1.
