Cbb is doing dreadful numbers, with the majority a dreadful cast, on a dreadful channel. Shame on endemol/channel 5 with this rubbish. Where's Julie Goodyear, Julian clary, Jodie Marsh, John Mccrimick, Verne troyer? Amongst many other names that could of been selected.
Dreadful? Lower than last January maybe, but not dreadful. In fact it had one of the lowest ever drops last night for any BB in the last 17 years. It started half a million down on last winter but going by the latest rating it's now 200k below and above last summer's 1.6m incl +1.

And you say "where's Julian Clary and Julie"? That was a low rated series. As if that would make a difference.

Wow, how dreadful it must be being the channels highest rated show, I bet C5 are crying, not.

Really good rating for Corrie, highest since (I think) May 26 2016 which had 7.79m (37.4%) from figures I have.

As long as it holds above 1.5m, there will be no issue for them really. Also the last few series added 600k-700k on timeshift, so we could be seeing ~2.5m type figures, something c5 NEVER get outside of reality.

Citizen Khan. A consistently rubbish ratings performer.
I'm just glad someone took a look at that considering how long it took to put together. It clearly attracts the kind of audience the BBC don't get for any of their other programmes.

As I said the other day/week, this is supposed to be one of the 'big four' - SCD, BGT, TXF and Voice. The standards for them of course vary individually due to time of year, format & competition, but bare minimum for The Voice is 7m. 6-6.5m for one of the big four in January should not be praised.
Saturday Night Takeaway got a bigger series average than both The Voice and The X Factor in 2016, although it probably doesn't make as much money as The X Factor and The Voice (now probably will). I can't help thinking you're being a bit unrealistic with regards to The Voice - a bit like A.D.P saying The X Factor 'should be level with Strictly' even though there is nothing that suggests that would ever happen.

6-6.5m would be pretty decent I think. I can't help thinking episode 1 will be around the 7m mark but it'll tail off after that.

BBC1 (Top 3: 7pm-11.15pm):
BBC News (10pm): 4.26m (24.6%)
The One Show: 3.68m (18.1%)
The Sheriffs Are Coming (R): 3.29m (14.9%)
Not a great night for BBC One. I didn't expect much from what seems to be a re-packaged repeat of The Sherriffs Are Coming.

Channel 5 (7pm-11.5pm) (exc. +1):
Celebrity Big Brother: 1.77m (7.9%)
GPs: Behind Closed Doors: 1.04m (4.7%)
In Therapy: Coleen Nolan: 0.70m (4.4%)
Channel 4 (Top 3: 7pm-11.5pm) (exc. +1):
No Offence: 1.89m (8.4%)
Location, Location, Location: 1.64m (7.5%)
A Very British Brothel: 1.41m (9.3%)
Not sure what to make of that Celebrity Big Brother rating. Not too bad for Channel 5 but for the show itself, although I don't follow its ratings, isn't it down a bit? A solid night for Channel 4.

BBC2 (Top 3: 7pm-11.10pm):
The Great Interior Design Challenge: 1.74m (7.9%)
Yellowstone: 1.68m (7.5%)
Rick Stein's Long Weekends (R): 1.31m (6.4%)
Pretty decent night for BBC Two.

From rzt

Italy's Invisible Cities: 3.01m (13.4%)

Inc +1
Emmerdale: 6.65m (33.6%)
Coronation Street: 7.70m (36.6%)
Midsomer Murders: 4.84m (21.7%)
Not great for Italy's Invisible Cities. A decent rating for Midsomer Murders. The soaps look pretty strong as well.

The Chase had one of its best teams on yesterday, and each went away with over 20k. An excellent rating for the show.
It won't have affected yesterday's rating as people wouldn't have known before they watched. I remember one time in 2015 when a team won with a total prize fund of £90,000 (the highest ever on the daytime edition at the time), a lot of the tabloids ended up spoiling it, although I don't recall it doing anything to the ratings.

The positive response towards the team's performance yesterday (taking a quick look at Twitter) might give the show a bit of momentum to push today's show over 4m.

Anyone have any Boxing Day officials? Or do we have to wait until next Monday for those?

Really good rating for Corrie, highest since (I think) May 26 2016 which had 7.79m (37.4%) from figures I have.
Is anything happening in Corrie at the moment to push it up to the levels it is currently at or is it quite simply a New Year's boost?

I second that request for Boxing Day officials if anyone can get them. I'm interested to see how Outnumbered did.

9 ITV2 - 07:30 PM You've Been Framed! 387k 1.9%
10 ITV2 - 03:55 PM The Jeremy Kyle Show 386k 4.0%
I know people talk about ITV not bothering on a Tuesday, but could the same be said of BBC last night - is it unusual for the only BBC programmes in the top 10 to be three News programmes and The One Show?

Last EE Iplayer update
Thanks

The data here shows that the Iplayer excuse ADP keeps making for EE isn't really valid. It down YOY in overnights and Iplayer figures. Its not making up the drop in ratings.

Though obviously now its got a good boost from a big episode.

Worth pointing that out, when people away say ITV would get better ratings if they showed "better programmes like in the old days"

Then you look and see those high rating programmes were stuff like Cannon and Ball, 321 etc. Anything along those lines would be sub 3m these days.
It's also worth pointing out with these figures that December 1981 and January 1982 were exceptionally cold, the record for lowest ever temperature was broken several times and in the first week of January there was heavy snow everywhere. It was one of the worst winters in British history. So these ratings are slightly larger than usual, inflated like all those shows were in December 2010. Even more so, of course, because there was bugger all else to do.

1981 to 1983 was a particularly bad period for the BBC iirc after the loss of headline acts and lack of creative scheduling- before Michael Grade took on the challenge.
Yeah, BBC1 was struggling a bit in the early eighties, they had some very succesful shows and won Christmas and so on, but on a regular basis they were in pretty poor shape. Weekends did OK but weeknights were especially poor, a mix of bad scheduling and a lack of money. Actually probably the biggest show on BBC1 in that period was Top of the Pops, the episodes currently on BBC4, which was regularly near the top of the BBC1 ratings.

Hotline, which was mentioned earlier, goes down in history as the first programme Michael Grade axed as BBC1 Controller, it was a live swap shop-type of thing with Chris Tarrant but was I think something of a disaster on screen, I know there were loads of technical problems throughout.

I think it's fair to say that Let it Shine is getting a bit of promotion.

It's almost as if the BBC are wanting it to do well and kill off a certain other programme.
Shock news - BBC1 promotes programme so people will watch it. This thread never fails to amaze me.

Not really. ITV might put out some rubbish on Tuesday, but when they do put better programming, it still underperforms.

All the BBC need to do is put something better on Wednesday and it will rate well.

The BBC don't have the same problem as ITV.

Yes, I'm not entirely sure whether to go with the numbers BBC or BARB give out for the Iplayer viewings, but certainly you can look at whether the general trend is up, down or level. The BBC have a much longer period of data available than BARB and if you iron out the month to month variations, it does seem that Eastenders is slowly trending downwards on Iplayer viewings.

I'm not to take anything away from it, 1m~ isn't something to be sniffed at, but it is dropping in both sides of the ways to watch EE. Its especially noticable that its not making up for the loss of the BBC3 rpt. I thought with that gone, the Iplayer figures might go up.

One article I read suggested they're only for 2017, so presumably they'll be used until the start of December, or maybe until January if there are Christmas variations on the same theme.

Apparently, there are going to be lots of these idents over the course of 2017. I can't remember the exact number. Might have been 32.
I suppose the Christmas 2016 idents were in the new format, particularly the special programme specific ones on Christmas Day. But even a man falling asleep wearing a paper hat is a league above the oldies in the sea at Clevedon or an exercise class.

If they had all 30 airing in rotation it wouldn't be so bad.

I almost long for 'Love 2012' etc...

It's a likeable show, and i want to like it more, but the only thing that genuinely makes me smile, and the comic highpoint of the whole enterprise, is when he parks his car across the pavement outside his house.

Unfortunately that happens in the opening titles of every episode. I switch over after that now...

A lot of the ratings this week - especially day time - are gaining from the post Christmas cheer me up blues and the extra few days/week some will have taken off work.

Given how well Father Brown does it has always been a bit of a surprise that this never got promoted into an evening or weekend slot and run weekly because it clearly is the kind of show that used to be common but is rare these days - an easy watch family show. So a bit wasted in daytime.

At 2 pm it has been beating or coming close to a few shows commissioned for and screened during evenings.

A decade ago this would have been a Sunday evening 8 pm series.

BTW Marks and Gran posted a couple of days ago that they are still trying to get another channel to continue Goodnight Sweetheart but say - 'no news. Yet.'

I think the BBC should be growing it on BBC2 on Sunday in a 6/7pm slot. They could have a potential 6m BBC1 drama here.

Miranda started out on Fridays at 8:30pm against Coronation Street. If it appeals to people they'll come to it. BBC Two put Pompidou on Sunday at 6:30pm - I believe BBC One had Blandings on Sunday at around 7pm. The former struggled from the off while the latter managed a few series. I can't help thinking a weeknight slot would be better for a new comedy.

With regards to Goodnight Sweetheart, I'm interested to know if Marks & Gran have tried to get ITV to pick it up - I've sent them a tweet. As Score mentioned yesterday, I'm not sure I fancy its chances though wherever it goes, given it only got 3.7m for the one-off edition a few months ago.

I think it might have been affected by the poor receptions to the previous returns of Porridge and the ther one that went out on a Sunday. I suspect had they been positively recieved, it might have done better.

I doubt ITV will take it, but if they did, it would probanly be better kept as Christmas specials.

Moving it to primetime which they won't would mean changing it from 45 minutes to an hour and a huge increase in budget, it may do well in daytime but I think it would struggle in primetime.
