6.77 and over 30% for EastEnders is nothing to be scoffed at for an hour at 8pm.

Not too bad for EE. But casual viewers are less likely to sit through 1hr of EE on a nomrmal ep. So its just leveling back out to its usual Jan ratings.

Thought its provided DIP with a big lead in.

It's holding which is surprising. Another 1.9m with +1 I'm guessing.

Cheers Ray, pretty much what I expected. EE was a big lead-in and logic said people would pick the one with adverts to watch at a later date.

Edit .. I was wrong about EE. I thought it'd hold better than that.

I expected this to be a mid 1s rater so that surprises me.

Overnights.tv (@overnightstv) tweeted at 9:52 a.m. on Fri, Jan 06, 2017:
ITV fielded series 2 launch of #unforgotten in the 9pm slot, where it attracted creditable 4.2m/18.6%.

No shame in that rating for Unforgotten. Did better than Jericho last year and Unforgotten is around what it was doing for most of its 1st series.

4.2m/18.6% altogether. Not bad. I reckon it would have launched higher than series 1 had the competition been similar so I think they'll take that against DIP.

EE is holding out well. I think we all measure its success differently. For me, as long as it is hitting those 30% shares then it's doing ok.

That's the first 'sarcastic' (but not maliciously so) comment I have made in regards to them cancelling the set redevelopment due to EE's low ratings.

It's possible ADP's (mis)interpretation of your original point absorbed into my consciousness while catching up on the thread and therefore I have misquoted you. I'm sorry if so.

The one other reply I did make on this was to explain that the revamp is a necessity for health & safety. And there was no point scoring there.

That good, the moved worked in a way.
lt could have be worse,if Eastenders started 7:30

They would have had half hour clash.

That's still a very good figure for EE when you consider it was languishing in the mid 5s only a few days ago.

Well that's good to see. A bit of +1 and a lot of itvHD (I still am amazed that so many don't watch in HD). This could consolidate to 5.5m and hold next week with no EE effect.

The Telegraph liked it.

Good rating for Unforgotten considering what ITV has had opposite Death In Paradise in the past, Death In Paradise has built up a following over 5 years and gets 6m regularly. No surprises there.

That figure is alright for an hour long EastEnders now the storylines outside of R&R need to start picking up for the longer term audience sustaining.

Brilliant for Death in Paradise and a respectable figure for Unforgotten.

Bit of a disaster for Spies though seeing as it had a 1.46M lead in from Restoration Man but what with 12.9M watching the main two and BBC Two and Channel 5 with 1.7M and 1.7Mat 9pm it was always going to be a difficult task to get bums on seats for it.

Great for DIP. I guess the EE lead-in helped it a bit.

The numbers this week puts the poor festive overnights in context. Many viewers can't be arsed same day viewing when they can do other things and catch up at leisure.

The universe has changed.

Have I missed any more festive officials? Only seen the ones for Xmas Eve and Day.

Interesting similarities in the ratings pattern for these two. Yellowstone creeping ahead once again, albeit excluding C5+1.
