That would work well. They probably have options on Saturday if some/all of the lottery quiz shows are going now as well as the actual draws.
I doubt very much Goodnight Sweetheart would go to ITV like BOAF did. If it goes anywhere it will be a smaller channel like Yesterday or maybe even Netflix as I think it might get viewers for its back catalogue abroad and Netflix seems to like quirky.
However, those commenting on its rating in September need to recall that figure in context. It was after the (largely disappointing) start for the sit com season and was widely regarded by reviews as the highlight of all the offerings, which would have been a big help had any of them seen it up front!
It without question was the one most well designed to set up further episodes as it actually had a purpose and a plot around its return that created story opportunities. The other shows largely felt like hastily scribbled one offs to fulfil the remit.
Even more importantly was that it was drafted in very late and only filmed a week or two before transmission. As a result it was AWOL from almost all of the sitcom season publicity in the media and only got a very brief and very late addition of a scene into an on screen promo on the BBC a couple of days before transmission. That is bound to have lost it viewers and it would have almost certainly got 4 - 5 million had it been shown on the first night of the sit com season IMO.
Personally I think the BBC should have commissioned a further one off Christmas special and given it a proper chance with a receptive audience (comedy is a thing Christmas this year needed more of) and proper publicity. Given how well received the show was then I think that it deserved a second chance, but possibly not a full series commission without that.
