I'm pleasantly surprised that Unforgotten managed to hold up above 4m. I thought it would get a worse rating against Death in Paradise. Unforgotten is a great drama, very well written and acted with an excellent cast.

It's better than Broadchurch ever was but I agree with Score that it seems to be under appreciated by ITV. It's a cut above the other crime dramas that ITV show.

Hopefully it'll timeshift close to 2m and fingers crossed it's done enough to keep the 4m overnight viewers. ITV may renew it if it holds at this level.

As a matter of interest how do you view all the ITV productions that they make for the BBC.

Nicola Walker has said that series 3 is unlikely as the writer only really saw it as 2 series. So I suspect this will be its last series.

8.00 bit of a gap - bit of channel hopping to maybe BBC News or The Chase on Challenge (we have FreeSat and FreeView on the downstairs telly)
8.25 Mum will be watching Casualty and recording Dad's Army on BBC2 which she might watch at 9.15
Then Lottery on Red Button and bed at 10pm.

This is what happens when people are bored with nothing to do in the post Christmas lull folks.

First they argue far too passionately about how soaps are scheduled, then argue about 'dropping a bollock' with scheduling as if it was Christmas Day not a random Thursday, and then create an extreme parody persona and wind everyone up.

Early indications also show that Sunday in the ratings thread will be just like Autumn Sunday's, with extreme nonsense all over the place. Many prams will be empty with toys strewn all over the floor.

I am "Pro BBC" generally (disclaimer: I watch and love BBC shows made by other studios), but my support for it means I get more angred by silly business decisions it makes and scheduling decisions it makes rather than defend it via spin. Yet I prefer ITV's Late morning programing. I used to like The Chase before I associated it with my Grandad's nursing home (it was on every tv) and now I can't stand it. I used to prefer Channel 4 teatime when it was Countdown, DOND and Come Dine With Me but the latter two became parodies of themselves. But do I exclusively watch BBC programs err no, The grass is sometimes greener.

I have had it tonight with it all. It has been a mess.

The BBC do have Still Open All Hours, which is so old-fashioned I'm surprised it's not in black and white.

Regarding the slightly bizarre scheduling of SOAH this Sunday, starting half an hour into Endeavour. Do you think BBC1 might run Call The Midwife at 7.30 for the first three weeks as a lead-in to SOAH?

9/00 Apple Tree Yard (the most likely option for the 9pm slot after Sherlock given that the Radio Times bills it for January.)

Open all Hours in a Countryfile/Midwife sandwich and up against Dance x3 which I can't see doing much in the ratings
Midwife giving a lead-in to ATY which from the blurb in the RT sounds to me like it could have a sizeable overlap with the Midwife audience.

We just watched Maigret 1 - it took a while to get going and I had no idea what to expect, was it a mystery, a Columbo or something else? It picked up and by the end it was a good piece of television. It's beautifully made and I'm looking forward to watching Maigret 2.

Out-sourcing refers to production being out-sourced...i.e. content not produced by BBC Studios. The BBC have always sold content abroad. That's fine.

I think it would be an understatement to say this cannot fail on the BBC tomorrow. Its been promoted everywhere ad infinitum.

It looks like Good Karma Hospital is airing on Sundays once Endeavour is done which does change things up a bit. That'll mean Vera will be either mid March or June or possibly Little Boy Blue in March. The Durrells is either 9th or 16th April, i'm thinking 16th as that's Easter Sunday.

Fearless on Thursdays look more likely. I think we might see Prime Suspect launch on Easter Sunday or possibly The Loch. The four parters I'm guessing Thursdays since there is enough Thursdays after Fearless to fit two of them in.

I'm guessing Wednesdays will be factual since they fall into the breaks for BRITS and football although I don't know how many episodes there is for Killer Women, Mafia Women etc with Grantchester starting late March

I've had an interesting 24 hours on this thread, actually, this thread is having a very interesting evening! There's some interesting perspectives in this place.

I think The Loch looks good from reading up on it. Set in Loch Ness is a bit different from London or Manchester.

The beginning of Let it Shine is the campest thing I've seen in yonks- I thought it was fabulous I've gone from not so bothered to must see now- I mean how else would you open a show than have Gary Barlow singing in the shower

That Let it Shine opening is actually brilliant. I do like the camp nature of it.

I'm really hoping it's going to be a new BBC hit. Get the tone right and the warmth right aka Strictly and it will be a winner. Credible panel who make constructive comments and all the rest of it. Make it about the contestants and not the panel. Really excited for it now.

So the starway idea is that if the judges give you a score of 15/20 then you advance? Ingenious.
That opening song will appeal to older people, LIS is going to have a really good day today.
