I'm hoping I can get the exc +1 figures from Broadcast every Thursday. At least with the officials there (hopefully) won't be any missing figures.

I liked Frow's idea of a block of US acquisitions on this night, a proper alternative to what the main two channels are doing and one that would in time be well received. But obviously the football gets in the way. Ideally they'd do something like this from September to May...

8PM- NCIS
9PM- New US Drama either legal/crime, perhaps something like ABC's upcoming Conviction
10PM- NCIS: New Orleans rested for 4 weeks in January whilst CBB plays out here

...and promote the hell out of it. Eventually it would grow, but it would need maximum support for it to work.

I always enjoy reading your posts, Dancc, and you have some very insightful and interesting ratings commentary here as usual. However, I will point out one thing- you speak of The Cube as if it is no longer running- ITV have said it will return for Series 10 in 2017.

I agree with you that ITV are looking increasingly over-reliant on a few aging shows. And the longer that they continue to rely on those shows, the worse the damage will get, as it will begin to hurt the reputation of the channel.

Have we heard anything from Cowell Towers yet about the latest X Factor ratings flop?

I still remember his patronizing excuse from last year: "A lot more people these days watch on what's called 'Catch-up', and I expect that the rating will rise to be in line with where we were last series".

The football highlights have been a real flop, think if they're a get out clause they'll use it after this season.

Can't Pay is a solid performer in repeats so they'll pleased it did well

The sooner they get out of that contract the better, I think a US drama could work on Saturdays. Fridays could be the comedy night with Lip Sync Battle, Borderline and maybe a mix of original and acquired comedies with 11pm for stand up specials. They do need a stronger panel show that could bring in viewers

That figure does really make things look much worse. Launching it this weekend was a huge mistake. Could Victoria out rate XF tonight? It might be possible if XF loses 1m+ viewers night-on-night which we've had for the last few years now.

On an unrelated note. I don't suppose you have the overnight ratings for BGT live week this year exc +1 please lewie?

They have to watch that though, placing so many repeats all over the schedule can reduce the impact of the new episodes and it's back Wednesday @ 9.

It's a tricky one because it repeats so well you can hardly blame them for wanting to repeat it a lot, but they should probably rest it for a bit before a new series.

I'm sure it'll do fine, it's never been a juggernaut in terms of ratings but a solid performer. I remember people being dismissive of it but it's still popular even after 4 series.

Seeing as C5 and co is Viacom brands I am surprised neither has tried to get RuPaul's Drag Race rather than it be on TruTV. I think it will rate well on 5Star or even C5 itself.

BIB And yet they continue to keep YBF in the schedule. So Go For It did pretty poorly. And will most certainly drop next week. The opening hour of TXF does suggest that the lead in didn't help. Yet again hindering one of ITV big shows, and again having to self start.

TXF needs support around it. Now its in this weaker state, its really needs a supportive schedule.

YBF looks to have won its slot to me.

Don't know why you keep banging on about 'self starting', TV's don't take 10 mins to warm up, to watch TXF at 8pm you don't need to tune in at 6:30 to ensure you see the start.

Bake Off 'self started' on Wednesday as whatever was on before it is unlikely to have got much more than 3m

There is a difference between TXF and GBBO. One is not in a weak state, dropping YOY.

Lead in's do help, as they have already built up a certain audience level. If ITV had a 4m+ shw preXF, the latter would have been over 7m, probably in the 7.5m range.

I hope the comedies do well tonight, both were good and did enough to warrant being re-worked for a series- Are you being setved got much better as it went on and Porridge would sit well I'm a pre watershed Still Open All Hours type slot for me

I liked AYBS but wasn't quite as keen on Porridge. Both had issues but nothing that isn't fixable, I'll be curious to see how Goodnight Sweetheart and Young Hyacinth do,

Sorry, but it's 2016. Move with the times. People don't just watch a channel for the whole night anymore, they follow the shows they like and will chase them around the channels. The percentage of the population who'll only watch one channel all night are the same ones that are unable to find BBC2 on their remote control. Even my 86 year old grandma can work the remote and find the shows she wants.

If people don't want to watch something, they're not gonna watch it. X Factor could have a 20m lead in and it might still only get 6.5m viewers if 13.5m people want to watch something else.
