Continuation of: The Tennis Thread (Part 30)

Rumours abound that ITV 4 have the secondary rights for the USO this year and that they will be making an announcement this week.

Ohhhh exciting!!

As Berdy withdrew from Rio, Dan Evans was next in line to go but has turned it down.

Well Tipsarevic must be playing badly if he lost a set to Ward

If only we had Dan Evans, we could have won all five matches

That would be disastrous for my sleep pattern/performance at work but amazing in every other way.

I will be in US for the first week of the Open so will be able to watch the evening matches. My son is trying to get tickets but not going to build my hopes up.

Is this the last match to decide the tie

Yes - if Isner wins. If he loses to Cilic then it's down to the final rubber between Sock and Coric.

Isner has lost the first two sets.

What surprised me seeing the score was 2-1 was that the Bryans lost the doubles to Dodig and Cilic - they really aren't the team they were.

Not likely but we should hope for a Croatia win - they are the only team we could face at home in the final as France and the US would both be away. Clearly a European tie would suit us more though as it would be just after the world tour finals where Andy and Jamie should be playing.

Croatia amazingly won after coming back from 2-0 down - with Coric beating Sock in 4 sets. They now face France at home.

And if they beat France and GB beats Argentina then the final will be In the UK.

Just up, shocked at the US losing. I was looking forward to a final in the US, I didn't go to Belgrade to save pennies for the US.

Manchester appears to be out for our semi, looks like either Birmingham or Glasgow. Hope the LTA get the there act together this year and get the tickets on sale quickly.

I remember when they used Court 1 at Wimbledon for the September David Cup date. Guess it would not happen these days given Murray probably wouldnt want to go from hard to grass back to hard again. Then again, not as bad as transitioning to clay and back.

Maybe when Court 1 gets its roof it may be used for September fixtures again.

Pleased that Dom and Colin Fleming are in Olympic squad. Means a lot to them I'm sure. Dan Evans didn't want to disrupt his schedule. Was he injured for DC or didn't want to play?

I see Dominic Thiem is continuing to run himself ragged: the only player in the Top 15 active this week. Fair play to him for winning a few events this year but think he needs to manage his schedule a bit more.

Then again, it is his home event...

Weirdly enough, Thiem is the defending champion in the two other clay events in Croatia and Switzerland this week, but obviously wont be defending them

Hope the LTA go to places they haven't been before to allow people and families who don't have exposure to tennis to watch the likes of Murray in person.

Glasgow/London would be predictable (although a final would be great there), maybe Sheffield or Cardiff?

Will depend on what is available, arenas get booked up a year or more in advance in some cases, this event is in less than 2 months time. They wont be able to be afford to be choosy.

If GB win the semi final and so do Argentina, the LTA will be in a pickle to find a venue. The obvious choice, the o2 in London, which will already have been set up for an indoor hard tournament in November, has been booked the week after by no other than Rod Stewart. He aint going to cancel three dates very easily I would have thought
