Venus digging her heels in. She's not going to give this up easily, is she?

Does anyone know if the protennislive site has had a revamp? Tried to look at it the other day, and couldn't get any of it to work in IE or Chrome. The whole layout looked different as well to pre Wimbledon.

Where's all those Venus fans in here who were backing her, once they saw she had made the final? |

I think you'll find they've backed Venus all her career, not just because she made this final.
![]() Anyway, great win for Jo. I'm chuffed to bits for the Brit. Let's hope she can continue this form in the Rogers cup. |

In Washington Wickmayer has done the double in singles and doubles. I guess little Lauren didn't pray hard enough during that final.

I thought after the success of last year Jo would struggle to maintain her level. Really pleased that I was wrong. Career high of No 14.

Whoever doesn't play with Jamie will play with Dom Inglot or Colin Fleming which is the other doubles team competing

Fabulous result for Jo, and best WTA title for a British player for decades.

Heartbroken for James McGee, falls in the final round of Rogers Cup qualies. Lost the third set 7-5 after being up 5-1
Haven't seen much of him play but it would appear he's quite mentally fragile.Well done to Konta. Haven't actually seen much of her play either so yet to decide if I like her or not

Well chuffed for Jo, Stanford's a strong first title to win. Never easy facing a legend like Venus in your first final. Don't think anyone mentioned Lorenzi winning Kitzbuhel yet, so I will. This was Lorenzi's first ATP title. Lorenzi is 34.5, making him the oldest first-time winner ever. Quote:

Side note, is that text awkward sounding to anybody else? 'born in Spain, admired in the World' like in the worlds molten core? What is on the plate? It looks gross. Quote:

Kerber turning up to collect hey paycheck and leaving after playing a single match is such bad form, Serena did the same thing last year as well.

I feel it's poor form to change coach so quickly after a bad loss or two. Seems very kneejerk/heat of the moment, and smart players don't do it.Quote:
McGee took out Sam Groth. Not bad!

Slams are not governed by WTA and ATP. I think it's the ITF.

Is this a 250 or a 500?
Don't blow it now. Come on Jo. WTA International (280) = ATP 250 WTA Premier (470) = ATP 500 WTA Premier 5 (900) WTA Premier Mandatory (1000) = ATP Masters 1000 Personally, I think the WTA structure is confusing for casual fans and should be simplified. Quote:

Well done Jo.
First ever title. The last (and only other) Brit to win Stanford was Sue Barker in 1977. ![]() As happy as I am for Jo, I am a little sad for Venus. But she is having a really good spell at the moment. Hopefully she can carry it on to Canada, Rio and New York. |

McGee lost to Smyczek in qualies and they have a fair bit in common game-wise. Solid BHs, weak FHs. Nice guys but essentially weaponless.
