Jo Konta is the real deal, Fabulous win for her over Venus in California.

I would say she's a top 10 player in the form she's in vas

I didn't know anything either, but had a look at her Twitter page there and it's full of god-bothering crap, "God loves me" and so on. Lauren, girl, you lost to Wickmayer, that's not the work of a loving god
God loves Lauren but he loves Yanina more. And Serena more than anyone.

Never knew he was a tennis fan - he forgot to mention it in his book.

Well done to Konta. Haven't actually seen much of her play either so yet to decide if I like her or not
I see her as a better version of Pliskova.

I think a missed the memo about Lauren Davis and religion...anyone fill me in?
She's proper hardcore bible belt. I vaguely remember her once essentially thanking god for injuring her opponent as she progressed through to next round.

Very happy to see Kerber already recover from life-threatening injury at Båstad and good enough to travel half way across the world to play Montreal.....

It shouldn't but it puts me right off players when they bring the god thing into it. Everybody is entitled to their beliefs but I feel like screaming at the TV you did it yourself you silly woman/man. It happens a lot with American athletes.
The hurdler who broke the world record was thanking god. I wonder where he was when she didn't qualify for the US team.

Tennis is mentioned in the Bible though - Moses was often found in Pharaoh's court

Bastad need to take the hint and pay their chunky appearance fees in instalments. 50% for turning up and winning a match, only paying in full if they reach the final.
I would presume that they have to pay the full fee upfront, otherwise there's no way they'd get a top player to commit. I just think it's so, so unfair on the fans, particularly in a country like Sweden that doesn't have any top tournaments. If you commit to a tournament you should have the decency to see it out.

Very happy to see Kerber already recover from life-threatening injury at Båstad and good enough to travel half way across the world to play Montreal.....
As others have stated, I find your virulent hatred of Kerber a bit odd, particularly given the fact that you're willing to overlook Serena's much worse behaviour, including the exact same withdrawal of Bastad last year in the same circumstances?

Didn't Serena play in Sweden last year? I seem to recall the tournament was on BT Sport, so it must have been played before Stanford last year.

EDIT: just seen the above comment about Serena in Bastad last year.

Sky are showing matches on the red button including Kyle. I wonder if BT are doing the same for the ladies?

Don't really see anything in Coric's game that makes me think he'll make it to the top of men's tennis.

Poor Angelique. Will you ever forgive her Jacco?

I like her now, and let's be honest compared to some of the things Serena has done on-court, Angie is Mary Poppins in comparison.. . As a fan of Serena myself that would make me a massive hypocrite to hold one incident against Kerber. Don't you think?

Is Kyle injured? All that hype last week and he's falling apart against the world 192.

Guess Edmund is probably knackered from his fine efforts last week?

Disappointing result though...

Laura Robson is a break up final set against some nobody in the ITF Kentucky qualifying.

Emily Webley-Smith is already through to round 3.

I think the heat was affecting him. He kept calling for thr ice towel and he is a fair red head.

I only saw the last few games and he was like a different player from last weekend. Struggling to get a ball in play.

Laura's lost her serve break. She's been on court over 3 hours against the twin of the player she beat yesterday.

Laura edges it in 3 hours 13 minutes against a wildcard player who has only a doubles ranking.

Freya Christie is up a set and a break in her match, as is Katy Dunne.

He is still young and relatively inexperienced and after the euphoria of last weekend I'm not overly surprised, and considering Aljaz Bedene managed to lose to somebody 700 and odd in the world and what Marcus Willis did at WImbledon, I would say there wasn't that much between 100 and 800 in the world apart from what's between the ears

Since watching the Wimbledon final in 1980 McEnroe v's Borg I've been addicted
