Naomi is complaining about Laura's ball toss...saying it isn't fair.

Life is never fair, Naomi. Suck it up.

It didn't do her any harm, she levelled

Come on Laura!

Won a set 7-4, eh? I assume you meant in the tiebreak?

Am I the only one who finds Naomi Broady quite unlikeable?

Hope Robbo can get this one in the bag.

Since I was introduced to the whole Ostapenko drama earlier this year. She kind of had a point, but she didn't go about it well.

Looks like she's made a comeback anyway. It's not over yet, though. Laura gave it her best shot.

Yes.

It is still an even match. I don't know who is going to win. I'm glad neither player broke at the beginning of the final set when the crowd were distracted. I'm not sure who will win now. It could be either of them. I wouldn't be surprised if this set goes beyond 12 games.

Naomi was the lesser of two evils in that encounter, Ostabrat is even more of a petulant whiny baby than Naomi.

Yeah, I can agree with that. It was a bit desperate though, trying to get her disqualified like that. I wonder if Naomi has some sort of complex about fairness after the WTA abandoned her.

I think you've got company

I don't mind Naomi but she does seem more standoffish than other players. Also, perhaps it's because she doesn't play the Fed Cup due to her disagreements with various parties*, it means that's she's featured less than Heather, Jo and Laura - even Katie Swan as well. Naomi was one of the players who were deemed not to be taking tennis seriously, wasn't she? The above GB women have not had their commitment questioned, even when younger.

* this reminds me of the saying(?)/question:
what do all these things have in common? if it's you, then you're the problem!

LTA you mean... although I do like the idea of the WTA chucking out the riff-raff amongst the tour.

I get the feeling here there's no love lost between Broady and Robson.

Yes, of course. LTA. Although that is a great idea...

Oh well, Laura.

It's extremely encouraging though for Laura. Well worth her cutting short her Italy trip!

Shame. Laura gave it a good go, she'll get there eventually, I'm sure.

Really could've gone either way. Laura will be miffed at herself I'm sure, but she got in the USO the hard way and she can carry that form into the remainder of the season hopefully.

Will this move Naomi ahead of Heather in the rankings? It is quite close.

What does this match say about the value of LTA support? Naomi Broady hasn't been able to rely on the support of the LTA, but Laura Robson has. The LTA provides financial and developmental support for players.

Yes Laura Robson has had problems this year, but she is still one of our best female tennis players.

When a British player who hasn't always had the support of the LTA can beat a British player who has always had the support of the LTA, and when for years we've only needed thumbs to count the amount of British women who can get to the fourth round of a major, doesn't this show that there is something wrong with the LTA?

And add to this the fact that they're trying to pretend a Slovenian is British because there is only one British player who is better than him. What a mess.

Oh Laura Horrible way to give it away, without even winning a point on serve. No hugging at the net between those two anyway

It looks as if it's 'clicked' so as you say, hopefully for the rest of the season and into next year, it remains encouraging for Laura.

Venus had the upper hand, but has just choked in the second set to lose it 7-5. Into a third set they go.
