Back on serve now, Sevastova somehow managed to match Muguruza's shit play. Would be hilarious if Garbine actually managed to win this.
She has lost |

Garbine has never made it to R3 in NY, surely that changes tonight? If she makes it I can see her losing in R4 to either Konta or Bencic.
Interesting to see Osaka in another slam R3, I wonder how far she can go. Personally I think she's got a QF chance, her effortless power is a joy to watch. ![]() I don't even have the words for how bad she was tonight, just completely disinterested. Clears the route to the final even further for Kerber, Vinci and Keys the highest other seeds left in the bottom half.

That match was pretty depressing with its twist and turns
4-2 up then muguruza loses 9 straight games. Then her opponent can't close it with MPS , muguruza after the change has all the momentum at 4-5 ... But she contrives to make 3 errors for 0-40 and finally succumbs |

That was a dreadful display from Garbine! Sevastova did well to control her nerves at the end. Happy for her.

Garbine needs to borrow Konta's shrink.
Time to condemn that match to my nightmares and put Rafa on record. |

They spend millions on a roof, and then piss about deciding whether they should close it or not. Just shut the bloody thing. Mind you they're not as bad as Wimbledon.
It's a pretty impressive sight once closed.

And I thought Ana was disappointing after winning the French. Garbine is making it look ridiculous.

Did I dream that Garbine match last night? I can't quite believe it was real. She's thrown in a few matches where she looks like she has walked on court by mistake, bizarre. She must be fuming with herself, which will only make it worse. I wonder what her relationship with Sam Sumyk is like at the moment, because he may jump ship if this carries on.
Don't be the next Ivanovic I beg you Garbine. We should just remember that it has only been about 4 months, some of which was off season. So not that long. Things could turn around next season. On the positive Rafa looked good, and Jim Broadbent has been cast in Season 7 of Game of Thrones, so its not all bad. |

Kyle's game just starting now. A big match for him this, after his great win against Gasquet, he will be expected to beat Escobedo, and that puts extra pressure on him.

Kerber doesn't seem to be having any trouble with the humidity. She's like a well oiled machine.

I've been a Sky TV customer since the mid 90s, every year the US Open has been on Sky Sports, every year at the end of August I phone up Sky & order Sky Sports & cancel it at the same time (you have to have it for a minimum of one month & give one month's notice to cancel) so that I can watch it (I can't afford it all year round & frankly I'm not enough of a sports enthusiast to warrant it); this year I did exactly the same & the call handler asked me why I was getting Sky Sports for only a month & I told him (this was his cue to tell me that Sky Sports is not showing the US Open this year but he didn't), come Monday when the tournament started I switched on Sky Sports only to find that it wasn't on, I flicked through the sport channels & found it on Eurosport, now Eurosport comes free with the TV package I subscribe to, as far as I'm concerned I can be forgiven for assuming it would be on Sky Sports as usual, I phoned Sky & asked for a refund, I was given a partial refund (£15 out of the £27 I paid).
