Yes Wimbledon does that's why it sometimes takes a while as they get the temperature as near to what outside was when they stopped playing and the roof had to be employed i've heard Tim Henman explain it many times during rain delays .

Actually, in the early rounds of the French this year, I noticed a lot of empty seats.

Maybe I had a flashback when I thought about it, I've tried so hard to forget!

So don't they bother on Ashe?

the americans love their air conditioning, they must have some kind of climate control otherwise everyone will just melt like vinyl left on the backseat of the car accidentally...in the summer.....

OMG! I reckon Andy threw that part of the kit in the bin.

Granollers looking like a dangerous opponent for Andy so early in a grand slam.

Andy will need to remain on his guard for the whole duration of this match by the looks of it.

Even if Andy wins this 1st set it doesn't like like an easy stroll for the rest of the match.

Well this is the first year I've been able to watch the US Open and to be honest I'm not overly taken with it. Not their fault really but the weather over there has made it quite a difficult watch, even when players aren't collapsing it looks like hard work and it seems like almost everyone is struggling just to get through the matches, so we're not really seeing their best tennis (or at least the ones i've seen). I have to keep reminding myself to be pleased that the (male) brits are doing well s far At least it looks like cooling down for the next few days.

It's so bad it actually made me glad that Andrew Castle was commentating Yes he's a bit repetitive but at least he tries to keep it light, especially when commentating with Mats Willander and they start reminiscing and forget about the match

That said, I've not completely lost my mind. I still want to throw things at the TV every time Pat Cash chirps up. Now there's a man with nothing to say. So often his stories just taper off or he can't think of the word, which seems a problem for commentary.

Does anyone have the Eurosport Player and do they show all the matches without commentary? I wasn't going to bother spending the money when I don't have the time to watch the matches they do show, but it might be worth it to get rid of Cash

People who may only want to watch 1 of the scheduled matches on Ashe will buy a ticket for that court (which guarantees a reserved seat), then watch some matches on other courts.

It's like court 2 at Wimbledon, which is often half full as people wander about.

People who get Centre Court tickets at Wimbledon tend to watch the matches they are given, and when they leave the tickets are resold to keep the place looking full.

I have already been unexpectedly reminded of Andrew Castle on Eurosport, this can't be any worse.......

Ah Ok, so they do something at least. Though not as fancy as Wimbledon, I wondered how it could close so quickly.

At least on Ashe its not echoey like it is on Centre.

Play suspended for rain except on Ashe.
It's serious rain out there. Monfils is having a laugh in it.
Andy struggling a bit.

That is a great find! Just imagining what his reaction would be when he saw them has cheered me up

I'm genuinely curious if anyone designing that thought he would wear them. I mean he doesn't even wear colours, and that's just a really odd look even if you're less conservative (or I'm just getting too old!). Did they have the cartoons ready beforehand, or were they hoping to use photos? So many questions.

Ha! In Edinburgh they are fairly common - usually there's a piper or several!

Granollers is very steady, good ground strokes, doesn't miss much. Bit like Simon.

Both in the first set at least. Andy should've killed that off at 5-2. Granollers is just being consistent, Andy's found another gear in this second set though.

Cheers guys, thankfully it looks like he's woken up now. Takes the second set fairly comfortably.

Usually they do have the option of watching Eurosport 1 and 2 without commentary but I too have changed over to escape Pat Cash and there are 2 American commentators. I don't know who they are - one sounds very like John McEnroe (but isn't him). They are pretty good actually - not talking too much like Cash!
And the Eurosport Player is great for providing coverage of all courts - when it's not raining

This isn't entirely true as I've seen pictures of him in colours when he is training/practicing but yeah, he doesn't do colour for actual matches. He looked good in the Olympics kits though - both Rio & London!
