Konta keeps kruising. Guess she's plotting another hot streak like last years.

Belinda was supposed to team up with Stan. I guess he will team up with Hingis now that Roger has withdrawn.
Yes, and Hingis will team up with Golubic (only option, otherwise the Swiss lose another player). Thought I don't known why they replaced Knoll (a doubles specialist) with her.

Think that both Federer and Bencic returned too early (to compete at Wimbledon). At least Belinda still has a few shots at the Olympics (the mixed doubles has suffered a huge blow, btw).

It's Lepchenko v Konta in Round 3. Then a possible re-match with Cibulkova, should Konta progress to the 1/4 finals. Although it's looking like a re-match with Bouchard, unless Cibulkova can improve in set 2. I think Konta would do much better on the hard courts against Bouchard than she did at Wimbledon on grass.

Not sure if it is a televised court or not

Hope Cibulkova can beat Bouchard today
I don't think she heard you.

Yay, nice win for Genie, in fact that's two tough opponents she's beaten. I really want her to improve her ranking and confidence, just to see what her actual level is. Personally I feel top 20 is probably about where she should actually be. She's got an outside chance of reaching the semi's here in Montreal, just don't ruin it by losing to Kucova!

I see what you're saying, but I'm the same with athletics and swimming, there'll be non-GB competitors in Rio that I'll be supporting above 'our own' as it were.
Oh yes. Ideally I hope they can both make the podium/reach the final, as it were.

I'm well gutted that the divine Isobel Pooley is injured though, there goes my main reason to care about the high jump

Random question, is there a rule on skirt length? They are showing a replay of Broady's match and her skirt doesn't even cover her arse.
Just saying, I really appreciated the low camera angle in her match against Puig.

The removal of the ranking points definitely killed what goodwill Olympic tennis had been building up, that and the other known issues.

Still whoever is left and going to Rio, the draw ceremony will be at 3pm our time on the 4th August.
Cheers for the heads up Birdy.

Konta breaks first against King. Not liking the camera angle on court 9, but hey, beggars can't be choosers, at least the match is getting tv coverage.
Ah yes. That view only allows you to see the near side of the court. Handy for perving...

Copied and pasted you Cherry as couldn't deal with the editing the post!

I don't really see it like that, yes they are tired, but then they are tired in Paris, which you rate highly, I never do as many either pull out or seem to lack effort if they know they have the WTF coming up. Paris masters is always a tired place to see.

But, just because it is at the end of the season doesn't mean it doesn't count. i always find the quality of tennis to be much lower at the US open compared to the Aus open.

We can't base the worthiness of a title on how Andy plays! Roger has managed to pull out some pretty decent performances at the end of year, Novak too.

Are we saying it's bobbins because of his lack of energy? Should that extend to other players all over? A win is a win, they are all tired, it's when they lift their game that counts.
They are kinda tired in Paris as well, but the quality of matches seems to be somewhat higher there. Mercifully they reintroduced the week break between Paris and the WTF a couple of years ago.

Agreed about the AO being better quality than the USO generally. Could be for a number of reasons. The AO being the season opener means everyone is relatively fresh and uninjured. Also, the USO is smack bang in hurricane season meaning the weather is very variable. Tough to play quality tennis in strong wind. However this seems less of an issue now as Ashe's new roof minimises the effect of the wind.

And sure we can judge tournaments based on how well Andy does in 'em, it happens routinely on MTF.

Joking aside though, I fessed up to my vested interest and made a decent case regardless. My points still stand

At least London paid it off quickly and the various stadiums are being recycled in some way.

La Monf also continues his good run against Pospisil and is up a set.
Yes, thankfully London avoided the dreaded white elephants that haunt Athens et al. Even if it did mean giving West Ham a new stadium for pennies, it's preferable to the alternative.

La Monf is looking very good. He can make a strong push for the WTF if he stays healthy (big if).

Sigh....

Who is Dunne? I was getting her mixed up with Swan, is she another up and comer?
Katy Dunne, only 21. Katie Swan is just 17 and she's the Kansas based one with the bizarre mid Atlantic accent.

There's really not much to be gained by him playing Los Cabos at this point, I think he wouldn't even gain points by winning the event. Where he can make big gains is in the slams/Masters, and that should be his objective from here on out. Otherwise he'll be the next Daveed...

Genie was very impressive today...it was up there with her 2014 form, if not better. Even the FH looked half-decent. She was a woman possessed, chasing every ball. Feeding off the energy of her home crowd.

I so want a rematch between Jo and Genie. Could be amaze.

Not really, she's 21. Slow progress. Her brother cycles for Ireland but she represents the UK. They're both from Hertfordshire.

It would be great if she could get a spot at the WTC, if she carries on like this she has to.

Luthi has said on Roger he is already working on his body and keeping upbeat.

He also said that if Wimbledon didn't mean so much to him, he may have skipped it. I really think it's quite something that at his age and obviously being in a bad physical state, he still made the semis and almost made the final.

Jo in 9th in the race for Singapore, but that includes Vika so it really makes her 8th atm.

Only here for the handshake.

Seems Genie has had her memory erased.

The HJ is all about the divine goddess Blanka Vlasic, a pity she's made of glass like Nishikori though.

She's well in the mix. Currently 8th in the race, discounting Vika.

Dunne beats Robson.
Laura Robson's injury has appeared to have knocked the stuffing out of her as a Tennis Player, in 2012 she beat Kim Clijsters and Li Na at the US Open to make the last 16 as she did the following year at Wimbledon but this injury has definitely curtailed her- she has lost so many matches this year.

Oh dear, to say Aga is in trouble is an understatement. She's been struggling a bit lately.

Good match between Monfils and Goffin. Nice to see after the servebots of the last couple of weeks.

Really enjoyable match. I thought David was going to sneak it in the end. Seems like losing the mini-dreads has had a reverse Samson effect on Gael.

She's had a hand injury that's been bugging her on and off since the FO.

Ah that's right, she was getting it massaged at Wimbledon (against Cibulkova?) Clearly trying to play through the pain isn't working.
