Is Sloane Stephens playing in this year's US Open?

It would be quite something if a junior tennis player were to beat the #2 player in the world! Cici Belli's has had to forfeit $140,000 in prize money to keep up with NCAA eligibility restrictions.

So pleased to see Delpo beat Johnson ”

He could be the man that stops another big 4 clean sweep of the grand slams this year.

Remember Cillic won 2 years ago, and there was no olympic games then, and this year there was the Olympic games squeezed into an already demanding packed main ATP tour schedule (and at a far more unfavourable date in relation to this years US than London 2012 was in relation to the 2012 US Open when it was Murray vs Djokovic in the final just over a month later (and there was no long air flight between Wimbledon 2012 and London 2012 as they were both at the same venue with the events also being practically back to back unlike this year)), and the big 4 are even older now than they were then when Cillic surprised everyone.

I think Delpo would struggle to play seven best of five set matches at the moment.

Murray has Joao Sousa tomorrow, but has anyone noticed who he could play in Round 4

Oops, getting ahead of myself, well I hope Murray gets Sousa in round 4, would prefer Dimitrov to lose tomorrow

Aga seeing the funny side of her weakest attribute.

Gavrilova just randomly replicating a Poots gif.

Couldn't really get a bigger contrast in styles than going from Niculescu-Woz to Keys-Osaka!

Next time Johnson should keep his opinions to himself. Loved Delpo's reaction when he was told he was facing Ferrer or Fognini.

Only when people mention it. I prefer to forget that ever happened tbh.

Del Potro and Fognini/Ferrer could be a bit of an epic

But seeing a non big 4 winner of a grand slam occasionally is not that bad surely. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does it makes a bit of a change from the norm of the near big 4 clean sweep.

Remember it used to be a lot more common in the past. Gaston Gaudio and Thomas Johansson to name just 2. Not poor winners of a grand slam despite popular belief on here.

I think issue is Cillic himself, not that a non big 4 player won. I'd love to see some new winners, but that would require the younger generation to finally step up and take it. The wait continues.

Gawd does it continue, maybe Thiem or Kyrgios could do it this tournament, but I have little faith.

Depends on the player. I find Cilic turgidly dull, not to mention the whole doping ban saga.

Vinci taking the first set 6-0 against Wittwhateverhernameis, the German.

I remember watching a match with her and Ange at Wimbledon and thought she did pretty well considering she lost 6-0 6-0 the year before. She seems to be a fan of the bagel.

I take it back. Takes the second set from Vinci 7-5.

This has got to be her best slam performance, right? Best year in general, maybe.

Her best year was 2011 and this equals her best slam result she got that season, R4 in the AO. The time away to refresh in body and mind has done her good. She's definitely more consistent over the summer and this tail end of the season, going deep in a few tournaments, so more than on track to get a new career high.

Got to the last 16 back in Melbourne 2011 as well, lost to Wozniacki. Wozniacki unexpectedly having a solid tournament too, looks as if she'll make the last 16, although I expect she'll be overpowered by Keys or Osaka in the next round.

I see! I thought she'd fallen off the face of the Earth recently, I didn't know that she 'retired'. If she wins her next match she will get a new career high, and overtake Jelena 'The Brat' Ostapenko. Win, win, win!

Have really been looking forward to the Keys-Osaka match, really hope Eurosport actually show it now. I know there's streams but it's not the same!

Wozniacki through. Scoreline flatters her a touch, she had to work hard to grind through Niculescu's slicing and dicing.
