What a fantastic result. Djokovic will be a tough ask but his lack of matches and early exits at Wimbledon and the Olympics might give Kyle a bit of belief given his good form so far. I won't be getting my hopes up too much but it's and exciting prospect. (And much more exciting than the prospect of Djokovic v Isner. Think I would've passed on that one!)

Fantastic win for Kyle. He is starting to fulfil his potential.
Indeed he is. I was getting worried when after losing the 2nd set, he intermediately went love 40 down on his serve at the beginning of the the 3rd. But then he won 5 points in a row to hold serve, and from that point on, he never looked back.

Indeed, I very much agree particularly with the BIB

Eurosport has got the exclusive coverage at just the right year for us Brits. Just think of all the great matches I would have missed on my TV if Sky still have the exclusive GB matches coverage.
My gripe with Eurosport is I have an app on my tv but there is a fault which they say they fix in a few weeks so have to watch on my tablet. This is really poor IMO.
But the coverage overall I have enjoyed.

Great win for Kyle tonight

What do you think guys

Do you think he could beat Novak, as he is a bit undercooked
Novak of course will still be favourite but what a time to play him. I just hope he at least gets a set.

Amazing point from Nadal, I thought he'd won the match the way he was celebrating.

It's a great line up. I've got the supplies in to keep me going, now I just need to figure out how to to clone myself in the next 12 hours so I can watch them all live

I can see why some folks get annoyed by Marion, jeez her voice can be so high pitched. I nearly jumped out of my skin when she got excited over that career prize money for Catherine.

I saw an interview with Marion in NYC earlier.

Nice to see she looks so much healthier and has gained weight. Whatever she did in Italy - it seems to be working. Not sure about running the New York Marathon though.

Chris Bradnam saying he vividly recalls Connors playing on the Arthur Ashe Court under the lights. I don't think that ever happened, since Connors last Open was in 1992. AA wasn't built until '97. Where's Jo Durie when he needs her. She's always correcting him.

Her voice can be a bit annoying, but I like how excited she gets but still throws in some good analysis.

This is a better match than I was expecting.

Also, I can do the MQ, just im on ipad from later today and doesnt work so well there, but probably wont post much either. hahaha
Hmm, fair dos. Will let you off this time

Aga seeing the funny side of her weakest attribute.

Gavrilova just randomly replicating a Poots gif.

Couldn't really get a bigger contrast in styles than going from Niculescu-Woz to Keys-Osaka!

Next time Johnson should keep his opinions to himself. Loved Delpo's reaction when he was told he was facing Ferrer or Fognini.

Only when people mention it. I prefer to forget that ever happened tbh.
Heh, Dasha is such a livewire.

Even though he didn't really think it through I'm glad Johnson spoke his mind actually, it added spice to the match. The crowd got the chance to show whose side they were on and they emphatically chose Delpo. Delpo must've felt amazing drinking in that atmosphere.

I think issue is Cillic himself, not that a non big 4 player won. I'd love to see some new winners, but that would require the younger generation to finally step up and take it. The wait continues.
The big four have very complete games though, so even in their declined state it's hard to grab three sets off 'em. Djok and Muzza in particular have set amazing standards in terms of court coverage/movement, return of serve and defence.

Depends on the player. I find Cilic turgidly dull, not to mention the whole doping ban saga.
Would be amazed if Cilic had fans outside of Hrvatska.

Vinci taking the first set 6-0 against Wittwhateverhernameis, the German.

I remember watching a match with her and Ange at Wimbledon and thought she did pretty well considering she lost 6-0 6-0 the year before. She seems to be a fan of the bagel.

I take it back. Takes the second set from Vinci 7-5.
Witthoeft is another Teutonic sexpot. It'd be nice if she won a few more matches here and there so we could see more of her.

Madison and Naomi almost accidentally playing with the men's tennis balls.
Ohh, Naomi Osaka. For a minute I thought you were referring to Naomi Stockport.

Bernard Tomic likes this.

My favourite thing about streaming tennis matches is when the stream just dies without warning and you've no idea whether it'll come back. Really adds to the fun
A number of Eurosport streams have got stuck in a loop. So annoying when it happens mid game...by the time it sorts itself out, the game is finished and they've gone to a break at the changeover

Rash returning from Bencic to gift Konta the set.
I seem to remember reading that Bencic is one of the most aced players on the WTA. Doesn't seem to read the server at all and leaves both corners of the service box open. She'll have her work cut out breaking strong servers until she improves on this key area. To compound it, her 2nd serve lacks variety and is too attackable.

Sock beats Cilic. Big surprise as Cilic was playing really well up til now.
Cilic probably wasn't motivated after Cincy.

How come Djoko has earned over $100 million in prize money and Roger and Rafa haven't?

Oh gawd Mac in the commentary box.
I think Fed is very close to it. Mind you, he has numerous endorsements/sponsorships. Too many to list (Rolex, Lindt, Moet and Chandon etc)

With a "Who Shot JR" t-shirt on too I presume?

It's like they're stuck in a time warp at times. I can virtually rattle off the playlists by heart now. Always a Joan Jett, Michael Jackson, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith and Beastie Boys. They've thrown in Phil Collins a few times too this week so maybe he was nice to the DJ when he opened the tournament.
I more than appreciate the time warp. 80s music still stands the test of time for me. It's infinitely preferable to them playing that Happy nonsense by Pharrell, to name just one. That song proper makes me miserable.

24th seed Pouille see's off 15th seed Bautis Agut in 5 sets
Lucass is really taking the scenic route, eh? It'll catch up with him soon.

Amazing point from Nadal, I thought he'd won the match the way he was celebrating.
He gets so pumped even on the minor points. Not that classy, but tennis is war. Not a garden party.

Indeed he is. I was getting worried when after losing the 2nd set, he intermediately went love 40 down on his serve at the beginning of the the 3rd. But then he won 5 points in a row to hold serve, and from that point on, he never looked back.
Kyle probably did it on purpose. He knew Isner would be stewing over those BPs and wouldn't be focused for the next game. Smart lad, this Kyle.

Also appreciated Kyle reading the Isner service patterns and going for placement over power on BH returns, forcing John to hit volleys off his shoelaces. Muzza would be proud.

Leon Smith is going to have a selection headache for the Davis Cup, isn't he? Can't see how Dan or Kyle can be left out now.

I see two comments about Djokovic, one about his taxes and one about his cheesy whooshy thing. That hardly constitutes "even more anti Djoko sniping on here than usual."
Agreed, don't know what thread they were reading? God help Lyn if she were ever a Lisicki fan

I think you'll find he pays plenty back to Serbia.
Sad to see even more anti Djoko sniping on here than usual.

Disappointed with the way things are panning out. He needs match play more than even more time out.
In taxes? I assume he does give money to the country because he loves it. I think that is the only thing I have said about him, I hardly think that constitutes 'anti Djoko sniping'. I was making an observation, because I was surprised he would choose to live in a tax haven.

I haven't mentioned his draw, the walkovers, nothing, I did find his singing a bit cringe but thats it. If Rafa sang in an interview i'd have to turn the tv off, so not an anti Novak thing.

Sorry Jen, I should have left a space between the lines as the 2nd line wasn't directed only at you.
There have been a lot of digs over the past week, certainly more than the 2 quoted in another post and certainly more than those against Sabine. It seems to have become the norm - not sure people even realise they are doing it anymore.
Anyway, I have defended my right to post what I want when I want many times so I shouldn't grumble when others do the same. I can either suck it up, argue or move on and I have decided on the latter. I think most people will agree this thread isn't the best place for a Djoko fan.
Didn't want to leave with bad feeling between us though as you are one of the nicer posters imo.

So enjoy the tennis everyone and I might see some of you on the SCD forum.

I got Delpo as well.

The USO app has been updated so you actually know who's what on the scoreboard now.

That's ok Lyn there are no bad feelings, sorry if what I posted was out of line at all. It wasn't intentional. I did feel a bit singled out in your post but it's fine as it wasn't just aimed at me. A bit of a misunderstanding only. I hope you can pop back in from time to time, it's a pity there aren't more Djokovic fans here, safety in numbers and all. Enjoy the tennis!

Looking at the draw Andy if he wins tonight would possibly face Dimi, Kei, then Stan/Delpo. Not easy matches.
Novak faces Kyle, JWT, then Rafa. Maybe put Sock and Monfils in mix.
After two byes Novak looks to have the easier half to me.
