Undoubtedly the French flair for the dramatics do make for interest at times, but they do over-do it sometimes, I can only do Cornet in small doses, and don't get me started on that idjit Paire.

FFT is a shambles, but i've not heard any of these players refuse the Wild-cards they get for the French Open, and reciprocal ones at other slams.

It'll be interesting to see if the Oz press ease up a bit on Nick now. Lleyton was no saint in his heyday and crossed the line sometimes, but I'm sure he got an easier ride in the press than Nick's getting. I'm reluctant to play the race/xenophobia card here but I can't really see another explanation.”

It's getting a bit much with one thing and another. Nick is young and who exactly hasn't done or said stupid things? Because if you say not, you're a liar. It's getting to be press sanctioned bullying.

That's why they've got the right man for the job having Hewitt as DC captain. He's been there, done it all and can relate to the young Aussie hotheads.

Plenty of players have done and gotten away with worse than Nick over the years and yet he's continually pulled up over every slight thing. No wonder he gets fed up at times and people forget he's still a baby really in tennis terms. Only Zverev and Coric are younger than him in the top 50.

For all of the shocks and end of season fatigue/wilting in the heat, both draws have held up well. Based on the live rankings, the ATP has 7 of the top 10 left - obviously one of those 3 is Rog and the WTA has 8 of the top 10 left. Plus the regular familiars and new blood in both sides still knocking about.

In terms of the Davis Cup, I'd have Andy and Kyle as the 2 singles, with Dan and Jamie in the doubles.

Andy probably wont want to play singles and doubles and Dan has shown he can be a good doubles partner.

Kyle doesn't deserve to be dropped after winning the Serbia tie and playing well here at the USO.

Good hold from 0-40 down and staring down a double break. Konta not getting the rhythmic patterns she likes and there's that manky shadow across the court. Struggling for first serves.

Sevastova limping. Something's happened.

Konta breaks back after a horrible service game. Both players making this match interesting.

Konta will have to come back to go through to the quarter-finals. Hopefully she can pull herself together and give us a three-set thriller.

It's impossible to see properly on the shaded side of the court.

Then there's the shadow of the flag billowing about just to add an extra distraction.

Again Konta's serve letting her down.

Somehow I don't think this will be straightforward for Sevastova to serve it out.

I hope Sevastova never plays Cornet. It will be like a soap opera with all the crying and melodrama.

Good, I find her expressions of complete despair every time she loses a point OTT and annoying.

She makes Cornet look like Mary Poppins.
