I knew that double was coming from Petra. Glad that match is over, way too many errors by Kvitova.

I hate when matches end with the loser double faulting - except when it's Murray's opponents of course

Hope Kyle brings a good game tonight. If he does, he'll have the crowd eating out of his hand.

I think she goes for them too much, needs to allow for a degree of error and play them a bit more safely. She needs to stop hesitating and commit to the net.

Plus, her movement isn't great.
I know, I was being a teensy weensy bit sarcastic

Christ, she gave it away on a double fault. Bad way to lose it but even Helen Keller would've seen that coming. A shame really, she upped her level big time in the second set, I'd have loved a third!

Oh I see, it's late, you need to put the wink in for sarcasm.

Yes, really looking forward to this.

Has anyone seen the stats for Kvitova v Kerber, would love to know the forced and unforced error count for Petra?

I hope they change the Louis Armstrong to Serena Williams one day.

I thought there must be a more reverant connection with Louis Armstrong but it was just that it used to be a concert arena and Louis Armstrong lived nearby. I'm sure Mr Armstrong would think it suitable for Serena to take the name on after her amazing career.

That would be amazing and she would be so happy and like you said, fitting.

Winners/unforced errors:
Kvitova: 32/43
Kerber: 8/8

Not sure about forced errors.

I have to go to bed, my eyes are closing. Enjoy the match and I hope Kyle wins but Novak looks like he is back to his best. Good night. x

The average age of the q-f's so far in both draws is 28.25. Pouille has saved it from being even more veteran.

Oh Rafa

Wow. Is it possible to say that Djoko's draw is now really easy, as none of the threats have worked out so far?

I think La Monfs will beat Pouille, Gael hasn't dropped a set as yet.

So as we enter the 2nd week Brit hopes in the singles rest entirely with Andy Murray.

I'm a bit down about Rafa's loss, but I did think he would lose in this round before the tournament started (I hate being right sometimes). And it happens relatively regularly now so I'm used to it (the Rafa losing bit, not me being right).

Rafa has all the fight, but he wobbles at crucial moments. He has lost 3 deciding sets in a row, he's struggling to get the job done when it gets really tight. Which for him must be difficult to take, because that was what he was always so good at. When Pouille levelled the 5th at 4-4 all, I knew he would win, because I knew Rafa wouldn't be able to control his serve or his errors. A bit deflating as a fan I have to say, he needed the cushion of the early break.

All credit to Pouille for holding his nerve in the breaker, he played a really good match so i'm happy for him. He's also 22, so wins like this give me hope for the future. (Does it always have to be Rafa they beat though? lol)

At the end of the day Rafa wasn't beating Nole, I don't care how injured Novak is, Rafa wouldn't have won. So I guess his loss here saves us the torture of that match up.

The man making it harder, IMO is unseeded Del Potro.

Think second part of the year, when we have Sports Review so much will be defined by Del Potro v Murray.
Olympics
US Open
Davis Cup

Yes he may deflate a bubble in British Hearts, but I am glad he is back.

If both make it through to semi finals I'll happily support either in the final (obviously I'd lean towards Andy more).

Interesting second week ahead.

If only we had a good high ranked British No.2.

A shame that Murray and Henman weren't around at the same time.

Happens more often as you get older. OK, he's not really old but he is old in top-rank tennis years given he started winning slams before he was 20. Roger has this as well to an extent.

I wouldn't rule out Rafa having a flourish but he's probably not going to do as well as Roger has been doing in the past couple of years - and Roger still can't win another slam even though playing well above where he should be for his years.

I think both Kyle and Dan will be ranked just outside top 50 when the new list is published. As and when they make it into top 50 they'll automatically qualify for MS events which will help improve their rankings even more.

Of the two Kyle looks like he can climb the highest, but it's up to him to prove that.

I don't like it in the US Open how potentially a player can win all 7 matches in 5 sets, but not even have to break serve at all the whole championships.
