That's not the shock. It's the fact she's in her 80s and looks like she could pass for being in her 60s instead. Mediterranean blood ages well.

He's lucky. I'm a year and a half younger than Rafa and all my grandparents had gone by the time I was 17. The effect of being born out of sync thanks to a couple of generations of people having kids late in life.

Oh and if Broady was half as good on the tennis court as she was at Instagram, I'd be an huge fan and she'd be a multiple slam winner. Still not as hot as Katie Boulter.”

Agree about Serena. She has bucketloads of power but it's controlled, especially since working with Mouldyglou. Now a fair bit of topspin on the FH.

Keys possesses huge weapons but no control whatsoever. She needs more spin on the FH in particular and to develop a 75-80% game for rallies, with 100% in the locker to finish the point off. It's the only way she'll beat the elite defenders (Woz, Kerber, Aga). Coach needs to drum this into her right now.

Boulter is hotter than Broady but it's close for me.

To have these stories as a bigger part of her win rather than her incredible achievement could well have been devastating for her self-image. Glad she seems out of it now.”

To each their own.

Nikecorts pushing of Genie is always funny though as she goes out first round.”

They've also had a bad run in the golf after Tiger's demise. I'm glad Nike are getting their fingers burnt for once. Much deserved after their inexplicable support of shameless cheat Gatlin.

I loved the randomness. He'd obviously watched our Wiggo's antics on the podium.

Typical Shitra ending.

DFs are a very disappointing way to end a match. Especially when the opponent is returning 2nd serve from deep.

He would've saved it at Wimbledon as well.

At the end of the day Rafa wasn't beating Nole, I don't care how injured Novak is, Rafa wouldn't have won. So I guess his loss here saves us the torture of that match up.”

Well, I think when Rafa's forehand is not commanding and it's barely penetrating the service line in rallies, then matches are on the opponent's racket. It would be much harder for Pouille to do this against Nole because of Nole's ridiculous shot depth. Andy on his passive days is also vulnerable to a big hitter because his rally FH lands halfway up the court. Usually his BH has good depth though.

You done stoled my idea! I thought 12-12 should be the limit.

The fifth set TB was probably brought in for tv reasons. Hopefully the other slams never follow suit. Bad enough that the Davis Cup has followed...

^ Mouldyglou. Funnily enough he was just on Eurosport chatting about Serena's 'bad season', which by any other players standards would be the season of their life.

Carole Bouchard seems to think it's his shoulder.

Hope it's nothing serious, the guy has the worst luck with injuries.

Wrist and elbow problems can travel up to the shoulder because you are working harder with the whole arm to compensate for the injury. I had the same problems when I was a top player.

I picked up a racquet once in 1988 and was automatically installed as British No 5

Pretty impressive considering I was only 12.

Joking aside though was Andrew a pretty good junior player during the 80's, I think he had an initial ranking of 35 when he joined the main tour. Injuries did for him, which sadly seems to happen a lot to Brit players.

What are/were we doing wrong with our conditioning of players?

He reached the 3rd round at the USO so he must have been pretty good. There was no such thing as physio, ice baths, stretching or massage back then. You just had a beer and a fag and went on to the next round.

Which is weird considering what Ivan and Martina were doing regarding up fitness levels at the time.

On a different matter, is anybody else confused by USO's website/app live scores checker? I keep getting the scores wrong and am never sure who is leading or has won matches.

Whoever (re)designed that section needs to lose their job.

I thought it would have been Delboy retiring. Simona failed to serve it out.

Yes it's poorly designed, not clear at all.

Thiem needs to sort out his scheduling big time.

On the plus side it moves Delpo up to 63 in the live rankings.

It is a tad strange, you just have to follow the white lines out from the row to the player which it ends. I'm used to it now, but for the first couple of days I was a tad bamboozled!

It's much better than it was, they've added in the white line across from the player picture to show the player on the left is top row, player on the right is bottom row. Before you had to guess which was which.

He played well at the start of the match but all of a sudden Del Potro broke back and Thiem looked like he lost self belief, while Del Potro became stronger as the match went on

Thiem needs to manage his schedule better, and also he needs to improve his returns and have more variety in his game, instead of just blasting it deep all the time

Yey for Delpo!

Absolutely, Thiem needs to fix that. I read a tweet somewhere last week that the latter parts of Thiem, Sacha Z and another #nextgen's year seems to be like the titanic

ETA, think it was Coric as well: https://twitter.com/nicklester/statu...24582151634948

That's pretty bad, and it seemed like Andy has had a lot of coaches! how can anything properly change/improve if he's swapping coaches all the time!?
