No mixed doubles for Martina Hingis in Rio, just doubles with Timea.

Zverev not playing Rio either

Guess all that tennis is catching up with him....still he will have others to play in.

Baggy withdrew from Rio with injury also and Stako not accepting his late invitation to enter.

The rankings cut for the Olympic men's singles draw (56 direct acceptances) now drops below 100...

It's amazing how momentum can change. Angie lost the first set 6-0 then won the second and is 2-0 up in third.
Now 2-2
Halep now 5-2 up.

Excellent.

I've just bought a pass for the matches this evening. Hope I can stay awake to watch Gael. He looks so different without the hair.

The opposite of Samson, although I imagine he'll crumble when playing Djokovic.

The Bryan Brothers are the latest to withdraw from the Olympics for health reasons

Andy and Jamie must fancy their chance of a medal in the doubles

I wouldn't be so quick to write the new focussed Gael off against what is currently an under par Djokovic (now watch Dj steamroller over him 6-1 6-1 though I really hope not if I stay up to watch).

Stan is a wee bit shaky against Kei

He is also wearing a non-horrible outfit!

He's also porked up a bit since *those* photos. Unless they were photoshopped of course. I'm not complaining; I don't like the skinny type but you could mistake him for Serena from the back.

All these players ditching Rio because their life is sooooo in danger will surely have to conduct a mass evacuation from their training camps in Florida now too.

It's not because of Zika it's because unless they're in with a real chance of a medal the top players have calculated it's not worth messing up the rest of their season. It doesn't bother me as it means that players further down the rankings who will enjoy the Olympic experience get to go. I reckon one or two of the higher ranked players might regret their decision when their careers are over and they realise they missed out.

Haha - I was actually thinking the same when I caught a glimpse of Denis Shara-wotsit the other day. He is going to have a very beefy behind - but, considering his age, it doesn't seem right to comment on it. But the thought "Stan's got some competition" popped into my head.

Great match between Kerber and Halep - and really hope Monfils can do it later. For his level of talent, he really should have more than one 500 title (I presume this is a 500 too).

In a way it would be lovely if a lower-ranked player won (although I always support Andy when he's playing). An Olympic gold should be the pinnacle of your achievement, and it never will be for the very top seeds. I know alot of players have pulled out due to lack of ranking points. I wonder if they'll be reintroduced next time round.

No dissing going on here. Nothing wrong with a fine booty.

Masters 1000.

He only just got that 500 title as well.
