Kei Nishiikori played the match of his life

Massively unprofessional of Andy to lose focus so badly after the PA incident.

Kei closed it out eventually, but that wasn't a great performance from Andy. Opportunity missed to win 2 majors in one year.

Needs to clear his head and refocus for DC.

At least this saves us from the inevitable rubbish about Novak not being a worthy champ, which we would have heard from Murray's fans if he had reached the final and lost to Djokovic.

That was straight after The Olympics, he should have skipped it. Sorry too, I thought he had played another.

He should beat Kei to be honest.
Where did the Murray from the Dimitrov match go?

I would like to see Monfils win now, would love to see that or Del Potro

What the hell is Kubot wearing. I thought it was a woman from the back.

I thought having Ivan Lendl in his corner was suppose to stop him losing focus

You could say that about Konta too though. Where did the Konta from the Bencic match go? All players have bad days, Just a shame they so often seem to be at crucial stages in tournaments.

I think we reached the end of 'the Lendl effect' today.

Same, and I actually think Del Potro is going to win this.

On the up side, this gives Murray more of a chance to rest up before the Davis Cup tie with Argentina (and Delpo a good chance to exhaust himself)

That was something lazy sports writers said, didn't make it true. Much like the myth Andy doesn't shout at his box when Ivan was/is his coach.

I really did not see that coming I guess the only thing you could point to is that the amazing year Andy has had has maybe taken its toll, coupled with an inspired opponent on the day

Hope so now that Murray is out. I think Del Potro can do it. He has been timing his forehands really well from what i've seen lately. His movement isn't great but he makes up for it with timing

Was tiredness a factor? I watched him in Rio and he had a couple of second set meltdowns. He's perfectly capable of just screwing up. However, Kei played really well.

Out of who's left in it now, I hope Kei wins it. As for the women, I hope it's a Wozniaki v Pliskova final.

Don't make excuses - Kei had exactly the same circumstances and dealt with it.

As opposed to the rubbish about all Andy's major wins only happening because of his opponent being tired or the magical one sided wind.

I think tiredness and mentally, he just doesn't seem to be all there too.

Andy is having the best year of his life. His best ever clay court season including beating Novak in one final and reaching his 1st Roland Garros final. He won Queens, then won Wimbledon, then an Olympic Gold. The guy is human, he had a bad day today, it happens, but lets not forget, he is still a great player.

Nishikori wont win the US Open as he will have another five set match in the semi finals

And will be tired for the final

I thought we had seen the last of Murray acting like a spoilt petulant child. But no, he's back. Andy Murray yet again beaten by Andy Murray.

But I`m not even talking so much about the performance but also the focus he showed, that`s what cost him today expending so much time and energy complaining, and I know it was a crucial time for that sound to go off, but he lost all focus. And Kei just got on with things

So disappointing that performance.

I've NEVER said anything against Andy's major wins.
