I don't think so personally. We've seen how good Murray can be in the tournament. He needs to play against how he did against Dimitrov consistently and then more slams will come. I think Lendl can get him to do that.

Woah! Did not see that coming. Certainly not against bloody Nishikori At least this paves the way for a possible Djokovic-Del Potro final.

So disappointing that performance.”

He seemed to lose his focus as soon as the roof was closed. He was already 'off on one' as to why didn't they close the roof at the first time of asking, from what I gathered from radio commentary.

With Juan Martin winning, yeah yeah.

The person in the way of Andy Murray getting to World Number 1 is Andy Murray himself.
That is the one difference where Novak is so much stronger than Andy, otherwise they are equally as good as each other.
But Novak controls himself far better than Murray

I didn't say you did

I was countering the argument that Murray fans will complain about a potential Djokovic win, with the guff that has been thrown at Andy after his major wins.

That has broken his sequence of reaching GS finals this year.

Mirrored by Serena ........ hope their joint record is not mirrored later on.

Lost his focus at everything to be honest. Long season and he won Wimbledon and The Olympics, he can have a rest now and just play The Davis Cup and Masters.

I'd love that. With Andy and Rafa out, I hope Delpo doesn't break my heart a 3rd time. Actually it would be 5th after Garbine and Aga lost.

Also hoping for a Kerber win on the women's side.

I hope so but I wonder if Lendl really is in it for the long haul when things aren't going swimmingly. I was surprised when Andy said at the beginning of this tournament that they still haven't contractually tied up for the next 12 months and I can't help but think Lendl is keeping his options open, given he left Andy so suddenly last time.

Going to start praying now for DelPo to get through.

A fairytale Wozniaki win would do nicely for me.

Was hoping with Lendl back we wouldn't get petulant Murray back, but we have.

Andy beats himself sometimes. Can't keep himself calm and focused like Nadal/Federer/Djokovic in their primes.

Yes everything seemed to wind him up today.
He allows the slightest thing to get to him, a small crowd noise, his support not standing and cheering etc
It frustrates me to see this happen, he should be more professional to not allow things to throw his game.

Gutted for Andy but well played Kei.

Really hoping Novak doesn't win this.

Gawd this Lendl love is so tiring, he's just a coach, Andy didn't meet Nole at Wimbledon or the Olympics, simple as that. No disgrace in losing to djokovic, as there wasn't when he wasn't with Lendl.

I don't think we should take anything away from Nishikori though, he played well after the first set.

He closed it out eventually, but he was very flaky in that final set.

Andy's errors trumped Kei nerves.... just.

She would actually have to hit some winners for that to happen.

Well I really hope that Lendl doesn't leave just because of 1 bad match. Even after today, I really get the impression that Andy has improved in recent times. Winning Queems, Wimbledon and the Olympics, getting to the final of IW after hardly any rest, his form against Rosol and Dimitrov in US Open. Lendl can't leave now...

Andy would have won today had it not been for his poor 1st serve in the last few games. Aussie Open and Wimbledon are his best chances at a slam now. USO is arguably his worst slam in my opinion, despite him winning it back in 2012.

Oh dear it looks like I'm the only Serena fan here. I might have to come of this forum and watch it. I can't have my favourite tennis player of all time being spoken about, in none flattering terms.
