Andy would have won today had it not been for his poor 1st serve in the last few games. Aussie Open and Wimbledon are his best chances at a slam now. USO is arguably his worst slam in my opinion, despite him winning it back in 2012.”

His worst slam despite him winning. That is an oxymoron if ever I heard one.

Oh Lisa, you never fail to get to the heart of the matter.

Yeah, surely the French is worse?

It would be cruel if he never wins an AO, how many finals is it now?

I would have said he is least likely to win The French but did a lot better this year, so let's see.

Well he hasn't been past the QF since he won it. At all the other slams he's improved or at least held his level.

He hasn't been past quarters since 2012. Maybe not his worst generally but his worst in recent times definitely.

It could be because he always has to play The Davis Cup over the last few years - where the other top men don't. He is probably just knackered by the time the US Open comes around.

Oh yeah Andy's run of reaching a US Open final in an Olympics year is over, stretching all the way back to 2004.

I aim to please.

I hope Kerber and Woz recreate this magic.

I really hope Monfils beats Novak, he is such a talented player.
If he could win a first slam who knows what he could go on and do.

I do too, he has never reached his full potential and he has the game, just needs to concentrate 100%.

No, you're not the only Serena fan on here Natasha. There are a few of us. A little few and far between, but she does have some fans on here.

Yeah that's most likely true, which is why I hope he puts EVERYTHING into slams next year. Perhaps forget about Davis Cup altogether imo.

One hopes this is just a blip but tonight was worrying. That noise put him off but it should not be an excuse. Playing in Cincinnati strait after the Olympics did not help. I think Murray & Nadal booked a private jet together which he took not long after picking up his gold medal.
Konta has played quite a lot of tennis too.
But still the Davis cup, 1000 event & end of season ATP finals for him to aim up.

Would love either Del Potro or Monfils to win the US Open.

Watching Ana Konjuh's match because missed it today. I wonder if nerves came into play, seems to be a different player but potential for the future, she is only 18?

I still have not quite forgiven Vinci for her antics in last years semi-final! Well maybe I have now.

Really hope she wins later. I like Halep too and she's a good player, but want Serena to win.

I agree, we have Dan and Kyle for the singles, they are perfectly capable.

I was on holiday this time last year and could only peak to see the match on TV and saw she had lost. What did Vinci do?

ETA I remember being in shock when I saw it was Vinci against another Italian was it Panetta in the final?

Played the match of her life is what she did in the SF against Serena. Matched with Serena's calendar Slam nerves. Vinci brought an end to the Calendar Grand Slam.

Seriously though - I was happy for Roberta. A nice lady by all accounts.

Yes Pennetta won it all and then promptly retired.

Oh yes, it's all coming back to me the calendar Grand Slam was on. I remember now about Pennetta, not Panetta (heh) retiring too. I just couldn't watch much of it because I was in Portugal with family and had to go out all the time.
