I didn't expect this. Pliskova was brilliant in the first set, she is playing Serena Williams, a player who can come back when it seems the match is lost. If Serena wins the second set she will probably win the match.

How to begin a service game when you're 4-5 down against Serena in the second set. Serve an ace.

You don't often see Oracene looking concerned, normally looking at her phone.

Unbelievable! Serena's fans who planned to see her in the final are making other plans for their Saturday night. She can't recover against Pliskova, who comfortably took the first set, and kept fighting all the way through the second set. When Serena was 6-5 up in the second set she couldn't make it 7-5. In the tie-break she was 5-4 up but still Pliskova kame back. Pliskova's tremendous tennis had stunned the majority of the world, but Serena's fans were not all stunned, so Serena made sure all the world was stunned by serving a double fault.
What an exciting second set that was, made all the more exciting by Pliskova's victory in the first set. |

OMG a Dementieva DF to finish.
![]() Serena was so on edge throughout, the shoulder had nothing to do with that match. Once she's nervous and the serve goes, the FH follows along with it. So many errors and she was struggling to get a read on Pliskobot's serve. So in a curious way of how the tennis world plays out, Karolina kept Serena at no.1 by winning Cincy and now she's taken it and passed it over to Kerber. https://twitter.com/TheGrandSlams/st...71169139011585 |

Pliskova used her weapons fantastically well and Serena could not cope Last year we saw the same with Vinci who played tennis that Serena is not used to playing against, and this year it has happened again |

Serena v Vinci was a Friday evening match (UK time), I think.

They must do, this is the first time since 2011 that the ladies semi's are night matches iirc.
Has it been announced what time the women's final is on Saturday? Hoping it's a day match. ![]()
