Mary Pierce looks younger nw then in 1999
She looks good, and also I love her commentating except when it`s with the awful Andrew Castle.

You know it's weird, I'm surprised at the result but not shocked, found it difficult to call. Whilst I'd be lying if I said I was expecting Pliskova to win, I did think she could cause Serena real trouble. She's talented, got a big serve, and crucially Serena's only played her once so she doesn't quite know how to handle her yet. Plus Serena's almost 35, gets nervous more easily, it's all adding up. Happy for Pliskova though, we'd been waiting so long for her to make that slam breakthrough I was starting to wonder if it'd ever happen. And now she does it in incredible style!

So Kerber-Woz next, wouldn't rule out the upset here at all. Very odd situation for Angie, has anyone ever had to walk on court and play a match minutes after becoming the new world #1? Hoping Kerber does win though, who'd have thought we could be seeing a repeat of the Cincinnati final in New York?!

Patrick is talking about Serena's injury. They shouldn't do that, just give Karolina the credit that she deserves for her performance but this is all they're talking about on ESPN rather than how great Karolina played. Wish Serena's camp had more taken Novak's stance when he lost to Querry.

Serena is 34 years old, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that she loses now and again and that recovery after tough matches will get more and more difficult.

Mouratoglou to Shriver. "It's obvious she (Serena) is injured. She had knee pain yesterday. Physios did everything to get her ready."
Well that didn't take long. Pathetic.

That is a pretty exclusive club!

Will she join them as holders of GSs I wonder.

Should've asked Aga for some tips. Aga destroys Pliskobot for fun, 6-0 and not a set dropped.

It was a good run, but I think Kerber will have too much for Caro no matter how much of Caro's old brick-walling, ball machine self has returned.

Will be a change watching this match going from ace heavy to rally heavy.

Great start from Kerber

I'd like Caroline to win, it would be nice to see to see two new GS finalists.

Not sure if Caro will be able handle Kerber though.

Caro played Kim in the final a few years ago I think.

I have decided I'd like Woz to win as well. She seems to have been around forever. Would be nice if she finally got her hands on a GS trophy.

Serena has, incredibly, never made the Australian and US Open finals in the same year.

Took until the 5th game for Caro to realise that just retrieving everything isn't going to do anything against Kerber.

Kerber should just have enough to get this set done but the way these two play could be so many breaks of serve in the next set

Whatever the result here tonight I sincerely hope this isn't Wozniacki's last US Open.

Pam Shriver never ever learns- she thrives on being rude all the time.

A slight recreation of their epic moonball rally on MP. Can't believe Caro didn't challenge it, it was actually out!

Hopefully Kerber will get her Cincy revenge on Saturday.

Nice to see Kerber and Woz paying homage to this classic

So a repeat of Cincnnati it is then. Obviously Kerber is favourite, but I'm not sure. She's in great form, but she's lost two big finals recently that she should have won, and to win the US Open she'll have to play someone who beat her in one of those finals. All the pressure is on her, and even if she loses she'll still have had an incredible season, but she'll also have missed some big opportunities. Obviously thinking too far ahead here I know, it also depends on what kind of Pliskova turns up and how she handles the pressure too.

Edit: Lisa you beat me to it again
