I wish Rafa was still here I would fancy his chances against this Djoko.

Mats Wilander made a good point there

He said

Novak knows how to win

Gael knows how to fight

That is the difference between a good player and a great player

Well done Novak

You will probably go on and win the title now

Good win for Novak. He played some unbelievable shots.

Good luck in the final.

This has probably been answered already asvi am about twenty pages behind on this thread, but he he is married to an English woman. He was anti the English football team, not anti English

Johnny Mac is furious at Monfils' lack of effort. Have to agree personally. He left it too late to start playing and was not fit enough in the end.

The player I most enjoyed watching and hands down the best commentator.

and he was also having a laugh and a joke, ffs (not directed at anyone in particular but anyone who brings this sort of thing up to bash Andy with).

I notice none of the Andy bashers seem to have noticed him singing the National Anthem in Rio when he won (unlike most other medallists other than the hockey team!) which is surprising if he is so militantly anti-English.

Just ignore the Andy bashers. They are not worth the effort.

Good start from Kei.

I agree with him. Monfils was disgraceful in the early sets and was a bad advert for men's tennis.

Loved hearing what he had to say.

Certainly doesn't hold back once he starts on a rant.

Johnny Mac is not the one, dragging the likes of Monfils and Kyrgios under the bus, given his own on court behaviour back in the day.

Gael's defence of Mac's comments - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cr8nBJHWcAAnU8Z.jpg

By all accounts the press conference delivered more than the match.

J-mac will always be my most fave player, he was electrifying to watch, but sometimes I wish he'd just do a bit more research on what he is saying, and stop being so controversial to go with his image, he's just good at talking about tennis and he should just do that IMHO.

John McEnroe didn't even know who Elina Svitolina was until this week.. so there's that.

Has Djokovic ever not been "injured" when he loses a set ?

This level of gamesmanship and his use of an oxygen egg, which is similar to Lance Armstrong's "blood in a fridge" routine leaves me in no doubt this guy is a massive cheat.

No injury time-outs, you can't play, you lose.
